Also, do you really need to upgrade? The Clouds are already decent audiophile headphones. They just rebranded the Takstar Pro 80 and slapped a mic on. I'm not sure a sidegrade to Superlux HD 681 would really improve things very much. And it really is a pain in the ass to get these pads on the 681. You will have a much easier time getting them on your Clouds.

I got these which I believe are the most common ones. They're thick, plush, and make a whole world of difference. Just don't get the purple ones; for some reason, they're of lower quality and rip easily.
The only thing that bugs me about the M40x is that they're not the most comfortable. So I purchased THESE to add some extra comfort. But you loose bass with these replacement pads so I ended up going back to the original pads. Kind of makes me wish I bought the M50x's so the extra bass would balance out the loss of bass with those pads.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? I'm using them to listen to music at work and during travel.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Not sure - I think I prefer over the ear. I just bought the Monoprice 8323 and am curious if it's worth another $25 for replacement ear pads, which I should buy, etc. I'm looking at the following:

OR if I should look at spending a bit more on the headphone itself (up to $100) and getting a nicer headphone like the M50x or the V-6. I'm willing to poke around eBay and see if I can get a deal.
Preferred tonal balance - I listen to Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, etc. Have no idea what headphone settings are best for that but would love to learn.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Need new headphone pads! I would like to listen to the Monoprice 8323's for longer than 30 minutes without being in pain or hot. I have a small'ish head but big ears for a head my size.
Looks like these are ones that fit and I'm partial to the leather, I just like the texture. I do hear great things about the other textures though. Didn't really think about the sound difference though, hopefully it's not too notable.
