Some good advice here.

Obviously, if there is a registry, use it. I would suggest no blankets. No big bottles of lotions/washes/butt creams. But small/trial/sample sizes are awesome sauce. My son ended up having insanely sensitive skin. So all of these amazing bottles of stuff are useless. And the butt creams/pastes that everyone else "swears by" were absolutely useless for us.

Since surviving the first year+ of motherhood, I've always said that I would get people a Dohm noise machine (because in my opinion it is far and away the best), Halo sleepsacks, and Zipadeezips.

You said no clothing, which is understandable. But I feel compelled to mention that lots of women get TONS of newborn clothing but nothing bigger than 3 months. I returned soooooo much newborn sized clothing, it was crazy. The few 6 month and up pieces I got made me so happy. It's really nice to have a few things in bigger sizes for those "oh shit, nothing I have fits you anymore" mornings.

I am a huge fan of the Indestructibles books by Amy Pixton. They are little (at least for us) indestructible. And babies legit want to destroy books!

And if your budget is on the larger size, this thing is worth its weight in fucking gold. It's the only one I know of that lets the baby 'walk' around. That. Is. Huge. At a certain point the baby is like "fuck this bouncer nonsense, I need to feel the wind in my hair." You can plop your kid in this and go pee, go switch out the laundry, go heat up a plate of something, etc. And it entertained my son for soooo much longer that I expected. Which can't be said for most things.

Good luck!!
