Calphalon Classic Nonstick Dutch Oven with Cover, 5 quart, Grey as an example of what I was thinking of.

  • Clear lid design means seeing the food inside. If you need to rescue your food it's super easy.

  • More durable materials, seeing as it's a Nonstick Calphon pot. Calphon has been known for quality for decades. Additionally, it's dishwasher safe (probably), no paint to chip, and riveted, solid metal handles make for a more durable construction than a $20 fashion pot.

  • smaller holes on the side, with a spout, and a fairly snug lid mean safer pouring, especially important with boiling pasta water. The lid also rotates, meaning that steam doesn't escape if you don't want it to. The pot listed here doesn't seem to offer you a choice, you get holes in the lid and that's that.

It's overall a better pot, that's more durable, and has arguably better implentation of features, despite the increased price. Is it double the price? Yes. But will it last a lifetime? If you take good care of it, yeah. And imo, it's far less likely to poison your food.
