The sides are too small to be boy shorts or hipsters. Bear in mind, I personally recommend boy shorts or hipsters over thongs/panties because the boy shorts do a better job of keeping certain things contained whilst walking around.

Super comfortable, nice material, and cute as hell, and as mentioned they do a phenomenal job of keeping everything situated. Fruit of the Loom is "ok", reasonably comfortable but less aesthetically pleasing.
