I would recommend less exfoliating with physical exfoliates and more chemical.
You probably have combination skin, right? Is your face wash drying? Do you feel like your skin is tight after you wash your face?
You want a more gentle face wash. Yes, I'm going to say it only because it works but CeraVe's cleanser is cheap and easy on skin. I doubt you're running around with much makeup on so this will be fine both during the day and night to wash with.
You can also use CeraVe's moisturizer both day and night to help kick start the repairing your skin needs to do.
I would suggest you start throwing in some glycolic acid to speed up the process of clearing everything up. Apply this before the cream.
With the acid though you're going to need sunscreen. They say that 5 minutes in the sun without sunscreen is just as bad as hours. Yes, CeraVe also offers a great sunscreen for a cheap price. This will be your last step. Apply it half an hour or so before you head out anywhere.
Don't do much more than this for a couple weeks. See how your skin reacts to it all. It'll need a bit of an adjustment period before you can start adding more products in. I suggest reading some of the stuff in the sidebar. The people here have great advice to give and have complied it pretty neatly.
Do I need a primer? Suggestions appreciated!
It's mainly for my back as I have some breakouts and I wanted to start tackling them. I'm in doubt since I've read that BP bleaches clothes and I wanted something I could use liberally without worries.
Also, I am using some BP10% on my face for spot treatment, I supposed the acne.org would be less flaking since it's 2.5% and thought maybe I could apply this on my face liberally too?
Suggestions on cheaper or better would be gladly appreciated as well as reviews!
I use this aveeno cream. I've used this because it's faster and don't have to wait a whole lot to apply the bit of makeup I use. I've read here you guys don't trust much in the moisturize+SPF combos. What do you have to say about this one? Yeh or nay?
CeraVe has daily moisturizer with sunscreen, since you already use a CeraVe moisturizer it’s probably a good choice. I use this one: CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 2 oz with Zinc Oxide, Niacinamide and Ceramides for Broad Spectrum Sun Protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BGBUQXS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_q0yNAb2B8V9GD however I walk to work and work outside on a farm half the year.
My MIL uses this CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 3 oz with Broad Spectrum protection, Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides for Daytime Use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F97FHAW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_G2yNAbCWRCW4B
She works in an office with no windows.
Have you seen a doctor about your rosacea? Rosacea is chronic and gets worse without medical treatment, so it's important to seek a doctor's advice. I use a prescription cream called Azelex, and if you're outside the U.S. you can get similar azelaic acid treatments OTC while waiting for an appointment
It looks like the Pevonia products you've been using contain several potential irritants (esp. fragrant plant oils/extracts) that might be exacerbating your rosacea. I'd stop using them both right away
Sun exposure is a recognized rosacea-trigger, so I highly recommend replacing your a.m. moisturizer with a physical-only sunscreen, like this one from Cerave. There are other good physical sunscreen recommendations in the sidebar
Finally, you might get better results with the rosehip oil by mixing a few drops into your Cerave Night Cream in your hand before applying it
Here's the deal, you really don't need to reapply sunscreen to your face after you apply your make-up unless:
Why the caveat about using a chemical sunscreen? Unlike the organic sun-blocking agents used in many sunscreens, the metal oxides in sunblock do not degrade with exposure to sunlight.
My suggestion would be to switch to a sunblock like:
For dry hands, I recommend Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter by LUSH. It is hands-down (pun intended) the most moisturizing product I've used on my hands. If that's out of your price range, or if you don't like strong lemon scents, Trader Joe's has a nice balm for a fraction of the price. Still a bit lemony, but fades faster.
For body wash, I've been loving Dove's deep moisture line. All my old body washes and soaps became so drying on Accutane, so I had to make a change.
For face, Aquaphor is a godsend, and is required nightly to seal in all my moisturizer and oils. Moisturizer and oils are pretty personal, I just use coconut oil and CeraVe, but I highly recommend having an open mind and being prepared for some different products. My whole routine changed for Accutane, and that's the case for many people!
Also: SUNSCREEN. Sephora will let you try samples of any products, so I'd advise you go get a bunch of sunscreen samples and see which ones you like. Some leave a white cast; some felt a bit burny due to increased sensitivity of skin on Accutane. I eventually settled on CeraVe's SPF 50--it has white cast, but didn't burn or sting.
Overall, your skin will be super sensitive. I recommend shopping at places with solid return policies, and being patient with your skin. Good luck!
I'm using CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 2 oz with Zinc Oxide, Niacinamide and Ceramides for Broad Spectrum Sun Protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BGBUQXS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_XlTTAb3JR089A
It's playing well with my oily skin, I think it's actually reducing my oiliness, maybe a little drying. I moisturize generously underneath. It has kind of a matte finish and a pretty nice texture. It's not satiny, but it's not tacky either. It has not caused any closed comedones for me and I'm very prone to them.
Thayer's Unscented Witch Hazel
CeraVe SPF50 Face Lotion
Noble Formula 2% Pyrithione Zinc Bar Soap, recommended to me by my PocketDerm doc!
I am hoping I will have good luck with the CeraVe sunscreen. I have been using the Shiseido SENKA Mineral Water UV Gel SPF50 PA+++, which I love, but I think it's giving me a weird rash/dry skin where my glasses sit on my nose. Possibly from the alcohol content?
Since you are going to be outdoors and sweaty, then I must sadly tell you that you are going to have to reapply your sunscreen a few times throughout the day. If you look at the dosage info on Wikipedia the exact times that you need to reapply are kinda fuzzy, but I'd say outside, 2-3 hours.
I'm also kinda oily, and a little acne prone, so hopefully the stuff I'll recommend will work for you.
I've use a lot of the Neutorogena (with helioplex) and they are all really good, and much, much less greasy than the usual sunscreens. I linked to the one I use the most above. Its easy to reapply, as well. They are all chemical sunscreens, which boils down to the fact that you really do need to be diligent about reapply during the day, because the chemicals get broken down by the sun and really stop working.
The other one that works great for me is CeraVe face lotion, SPF 50. The upside is that it is a physical sunblock, so as long as you don't wipe it away, it'll stick around like a boss. The down side is that is is a physical sunscreen, so it tends to give a slightly white-ish cast until it completely soaks in. I can cover it up with some tinted powder, but I'm pretty honky white.
Thank you! My skin is very sensitive and I'm a little tight on money so do you think https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Sunscreen-Face-Lotion-Ounce/dp/B00BGBUQXS?th=1 will help? Also do you have any recommendations for a good moisturizer? I have combo sensitive skin and I mainly get blackheads and not much actual acne.
I don't have a particular problem besides the occasional breakouts but I was looking for critiques on my routine. Korean male with light/sensitive skin if that matters

I need to add sunscreen into my morning routine ASAP so I'm thinking of using this
I didn't realize that CeraVe made a SPF 50 face lotion, but I see the face and the body ones on Amazon. Yep, you can use either on your face. Body SPF products tend to be heavier. It's really hard in general to find a sunscreen that doesn't feel greasy, so paying more for the "face" version can be worth it. I recommend reading the Amazon reviews. I haven't tried either of these but the active ingredients (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) leave a white cast on your face which can be really annoying and obvious.
Another to consider is CeraVe AM which is a physical-chemical sunscreen and shouldn't leave a noticeable white cast.
Finding the perfect sunscreen is hard. I think many of us here have tried dozens before finding the perfect one. So you just gotta experiment a bit.
I didn't especially like that product as a sunscreen myself, but the balling/pilling seems to be a common issue for many people. Check out the community reviews in this link, and you'll see that many people have the same issue as you do! I didn't think it smelled too very bad, but to be honest I didn't really give the product too much attention. It was just something I picked off the shelves. Cerave also has this sunscreen, that you might want to check out too! People say it has a white cast, but hey if it doesn't break me out I'm good with it. I too have oily/combo/acne prone skin.
I totally know what you mean. I was never really bothered by or noticed acne on anyone else, but when it's on my face I feel like everyone must be staring. I also feel you on the cystic. When I was on the Mirena IUD I had extremely painful cystic acne. I'm on a pill now that's different than the one I was on before (Beyaz is what I'm on now, I was on sprintec first) and it has changed things completely for me. I mostly just have one or two zits while I'm on the "placebo" pills at the end of the pack. When I decided to go vegan and cut dairy out completely, that also made a huge difference in my skin. While I was transitioning from vegetarian I'd always have acne flare up if I ate dairy.
As far as skin products, I am not 100% sure yet if this brand can be considered vegan, but they have worked for me and I'm still trying to find definitely vegan products to replace them.
This is the next regiment I'm phasing in (as in one or two new products every month) after a month of lurking on here. Please feel free to throw suggestions at the newbies guys!
In the morning:
Starting at twice a week, after work:
At night:
As for shaving "down there", I've been advised to just use those electric buzzers they use for hair cuts. Leaves a stubble but worth not having ingrown hairs. (Sorry for the gross imagery). Otherwise, I would imagine the same rules apply as for men avoiding ingrown hair on their face, which comes with a plethora of articles and products. Not wearing tight jeans/pants two or three days after shaving helps (men are advised to not wear tight collars after shaving to avoid ingrown hair), as does using shaving cream. Also, those round electric shavers are supposed to be better than razors because they don't "dig" at the hair under the follicle and facilitate ingrown hair.
Not using a shaving cream allows the razor to irritate your skin, and following that with a body wash, no matter how gentle and natural, will likely cause your skin to itch. Source: I stubbornly refused shaving cream for years. Still skip it sometimes out of laziness, but life is so much better when I at least remember to shave my legs before rinsing off my soap lather in the shower.
Oh and I started drinking 3 liters of water a day. Absolute game changer for my skin. Yay!
Well I'm looking to use EltaMD UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 (SPF 41, PPD 8.6) for my face/neck and CeraVe SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion, 2 Ounce (SPF 50, PPD 5.3) on my arms. Can't really wear long sleeves and hats as they just don't mix with me.
Thanks nonetheless, really do appreciate that.
Can I use sunscreen intended for use on the body on my face?
The reason I'm asking is because yesterday my mom was heading out to the store and asked if I needed anything, so I asked her for a specific sunscreen and she accidentally got me the version made for use on the body, not the face. Now, before I open this sunscreen, would there be any problem if I used this sunscreen on my face and body? Would it be damaging to my skin in some way or cause me to break out? Because if it will, I'll just exchange it for the proper one, but if not, then I'll just open it and start using it.

Yep!
I regularly use CeraVe. It's really mild on the skin. It just contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, instead of all the harsh benzones that most sunscreen contains.
Hi, I have oily and dry skin so my routine looks like:
AM Routine:
2) Cerave Lotion
PM Routine:
Face masks 1-2 a week with :
OR 2) Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask depending on if my skin feels more oily or not. If its oily, I use the Aztec mud.
