Is it bad that I can't subscribe to the NYT because of the Sarah Jeong controversy? I would never subscribe to a newspaper that hired an opinion writer with a history of tweets against black/asian/trans etc people, so I use the same rationale that I just can't bring myself to subscribe to NYT.
I'm not some alt-right maniac. I actually love the journalism of the NYT. I read every month up to my limit of free articles online, and I will occasionally pick up the paper copy if I see it for sale. I buy and read books that NYT journalists write (check out Chasing Hillary, it's the best book there is about the 2016 campaign).
I just think it's one of those times a line has to be drawn. I read the NYT's response - it was in the past, it was done because she was being attacked by nazis, she now regrets it. I agree with all of those things. But, at the risk of drawing false equivalencies, I would never accept any of those things if it was racism directed at black people- so why should I accept that in this case?
Have I just spent too much time on the internet that I can't see the wood for the trees on this?

This is the only interesting book written about the campaign so far imo:

Edit: I forgot to mention Palmieri's book, also a great book:

I don’t think she was. She wrote a book all about her.
