Pipes probably aren't your best bet, but I guess I'd recommend ABS.

Anyway, if it were me, I'd want to be able to control the music in every room. How about bluetooth speakers in each room?

I've been looking myself. This one seems like a good value. You can also get the D80, which doesn't have the option of battery power, for $20.

You might also consider if Bluetooth is something you'd be interested in with such a device. Here's another option that has that: http://www.amazon.com/HMDX-HX-P230GY-Bluetooth-Wireless-Blackberry/dp/B007R6HUFI/

I don't own one, so can't verify how good it is, but it has good reviews on Amazon.

Here's another option that's AA powered. Which might be better in the sense that the batteries will last longer. 3-4 vs 25 hrs.

Also, with a Li-ion option, you will need to make sure to charge it right before you're going to have to use it because those types of batteries lose their charge over a matter of weeks. Regular batteries last years otherwise.

I have a creative D100

they are pretty large, but the battery life is excellent and they also weigh very little. There is also the D80, which is the same but without bluetooth :)

I put a portable bluetooth speaker system in my bathroom and just stream my music via bluetooth to the speakers. I can leave my phone in a non-moist environment and enjoy the music.

The bluetooth speaker I got allow me to connect devices via 3.5MM and bluetooth.
