I think they have special mounts you can buy for larger devices like that. But you will want to make sure that your ipad is the one that takes a sim card capable of cell service or it wont work. It relies on cell signal or Wifi in order to use the GPS. Heres a link to a cupholder mount on Amazon.

I drive in an area that has an Army base. I frequently pick up soldiers from far areas of the base, usually exercising or whatever. I keep a case of water in the trunk of my car in the event they are dehydrated and need water, but I only offer if it looks like they need it. Id rather spend $4 on a case of water at walmart and keep it in my car for them rather than have a medical emergency on my hands. Normal pax, i sometimes make an exception for if they're polite. Plus this has the added benefit of saving me money when I'm driving late nights, and not having to spend $2 per bottle of water at the store.
The only real "perk" i offer is control of the music.
