I personally have a Hero3 I won five years ago in a video contest, Crosstour Action Camera I use for my rear on my commuter (when I remember to charge it). And for my race bike I have my Fly6(ce), but I will use it on my commuter if I forget to charge my other rear camera.
Here is a list of common ones:
Inexpensive (< $100)
Mid Range ($100-250)
High End ($250+)
fly 6 seems to have mixed reviews, and its rear facing: https://www.amazon.com/CYCLIQ-Fly6-Bike-Camera-Light/dp/B077NNSRDL fly12 looks great but crazy expensive.
There are sort of two options here, a standard action camera (gopro, sjcam, etc.) or a dedicated cycling/vehicle type camera (not many). With the first you have <1-2hr of record time, not huge, but might be ok for commuting if you don't mind charging every day.
Personally went with the action cam, as my commute is short (<1hr), and budget was low.
I use this for gopro style mount, the stock ones are garbage: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Aluminum-Bike-Handlebar-Motorcycle-Bar-Mount-Adapter-for-GoPro-Hero-1-2-3-3/32615330305.html
Seems like the Fly6(ce) has some bad reviews:

But, admittedly, some of those people seem like they just might be intelligence challenged.
I'd love to get cameras, as I feel it's only a matter of time until something happens. 50km a day on rural roads though, people doing 80kph not sure I'd survive that something
