I've been meditation for around 2.5 years and (almost) daily for around 18 months. I started with the Wim Hof method which was by far the most intense technique I've tried. It's actually quite psychedelic and dream-like. You can achieve incredible depth. This method had quite a profound impact on my mindset and motivations. I still take cold showers daily although rarely practice the breathing.

After this I explored Buddhist Theravada meditation following a great book called The Mind Illuminated.

I have settled on a Taoist practice that comprises of qigong and sung breathing meditation. These elements are part of a wider practice called neigong. I learned here and I'm planning on attending a couple of retreats this year. I've been doing this around 8 months and am finding it very rewarding although progress is slow.

One of the many reasons I took up meditation was to prepare myself for exploring entheogens. Funnily enough, recently, about 4 weeks after my first (sub breakthrough) DMT experiences I started making fairly substantial progress during the sung breathing. I am now able to induce very pleasurable energetic sensations toward the end of my 30 minute session. Like when one gets goosebumps from an emotionally charged experience but longer and more intense. It seems DMT aided in this progress.
