I feel like you somehow think you deserve the best deal in the world (buying a gaming computer under 700 is really not going to get you anything in this world)

but most likely the price match will be good, I'll give some examples of things that can be price matched and things that cannot. If you could bump up your budget to $1200, I'd recommend the Dell XPS 13 with the 7th gen i7. It's a little over your budget but I think it'll serve you well for your time at Poly!

If you need to stay within that 1K budget, you could get last year's model but I'd recommend the XPS from the first link since that has a more current CPU.

Regardless, if you can find a laptop that has a 7th generation i7 (so that your laptop crushes through all those eng. programs), you're golden.

I think you would do well with the Dell XPS9360-4841SLV. It's a 13.3" inch laptop with a 3200X1800 display with touch screen, an i7-7500u, 8 gigs of lpddr3 ram, and a 256 gig SSD. Personally, I would choose this over the Surface Laptop because the Surface Laptop's keyboard has a mat-like texture that is known to get dirty very easily.

It's actually smaller than you'd think.

But you can try the 13inch xps but be warned that the gaming performance takes a Significant hit. And you might struggle to hit your desired fps targets.

This would also work, but it's slightly worse than the XPS in terms of build quality and screen quality. But it does have a dedicated graphics card.

What i understood from your post that you just want a light durable laptop to last you through school, with no budget there is a lot of options but my favourite two are the LG gram 14 which have exactly what you said "i7 and at least 8gb ram and 256 gb ssd", it's only 2.14 lbs and you get over 12 Hrs of battery life (your entire day at school with one charge), or the Dell XPS again it have all your required spces weighing 2.7lbs .

Both machines have very good screens and build quality and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask .

Would 8GB of RAM be enough to run Premiere, you think?

That's my only concern: Running Premiere. Everything else will way less intensive, and I dunno if it's just my Origin, but the thing is as hot as the sun when I run Premiere for too long. I have no idea how to even check this computer's specs. LOL.

EDIT: I figured it out. Seems my current '14 laptop is pretty meaty still: 16 GB of RAM, Intel Core i7 CPU @ 2.5 GHz, running Windows 10. Dunno if there's any other pertinent information.
