Here are some details on my travel setup:
Qualls: I consider myself an experienced traveler. I travel every week for work, sometimes to 3 different cities. 250,000 Butt in Seat Miles last year, 45,000 so far this year. Mostly domestic US.
Travel profile: Typical trip is 2 days long. So my profile is a little different from Grey-cations. However, I’ve noted in addition what I do for longer family vacations of 1-2 weeks.
Non-tech: My suitcase must be able to fit in crappy regional jet overhead bins. Delsey Helium Aero International fits in CRJ700, CRJ900, and E175 Bins without issue. My Victorinox Slimline Toiletry Case holds my bathroom gear with no space left to spare. I keep 3 razors (gotta have backups for work) and importantly a toothbrush. A plain crappy toothbrush. This is my backup should my Sonicare die. I use packing cubes to arrange clothing. And I always travel with a thin linen scarf. That is my pro-tip. A thin scarf saves you on scrappy transport with bad AC. And my backpack is a Briggs and Riley Medium Backpack that, importantly, has a slip for the Delsey’s handle. Being able to take my backpack off and stand it on my suitcase is a major win.
Tech: Lenovo Yoga 370 (13”), iPhone 8+, Libratone Q-Adapt On-Ear Headphones, Kindle, Apple Watch, Sonicare.
Charging solutions: Griffin Travel Power Bank for Apple Watch is often enough for short trips, replaces my Apple cable with a micro USB, and is a small bedside stand. My microUSB cable fits my headphones, Griffin, and Kindle. None need constant charging so I rotate as needed. Power source is my laptop, even when in my backpack.
Phone is Lightning, of course, and laptop is USB-C. I use a Dart from FinSix. Looks like it’s out of stock at the moment. Innergie is coming out with a similar one shortly. Super small 65W charger. The Dart has an in-line USB-A charger to fit my lightning cable.
For international travel I just need 1 adapter then, for the Dart. I use this guy: if you don’t like this there are like 20 variants on Amazon by competitors Innergie promises to have interchangeable heads.
That’s it. For longer trips I’ll take the Sonicare upright charger. And a bigger toothpaste.
