Hey! I've been DMing 5th Edition here in Astoria for almost two years now. I won't be able to DM for you, but I do have some advice.

If you are looking for a place to start, I'd recommend Lost Mines of Phandelver starter kit. It gives you everything you need to get started including dice, the basic rules, and pre-created character sheets.

If you take on the mantle of of Dungeon Master, try not to worry about knowing all the rules(it's impossible!). Just have a general idea of what each skill is used for when a player asks questions in game and how combat generally works. You'll make lots of mistakes, but as long as you all are having fun it'll be OK. If you want to move on from the starter set, you'll for sure need the core three rule books: Player's Hand Book, Monster Manual, and DM Guide. In addition, you'll probably need a pre-written campaign, but I haven't played through any of them so I can't give recommendations.

Best of luck and if you have any questions you can DM me and I can try to help!

D&D isn't so much of a 'board game' (can typically be ended in one session, self-contained/limited gameplay, hard rules, etc) as it is a game played on the tabletop.

That being said, it depends what you want. You'll need dice, character sheets and an adventure at minimum. The DnD starter set comes with that (and also a version that comes with enough dice for 6 players) The adventure included is pretty good.

Alternatively you could look up one-shots (adventures intended to be started and completed in a span of a few hours). There are both free and paid ones of varying quality for each. You'd still need dice, but many one-shots include pregenerated characters.

Hope this helps a bit, and enjoy!

this includes a 6 different die sets also a lot of printable stuff that get emailed to you

i also heard that i could get character sheets at the coasts of wizards. so i have been wondering which one should i get as a start into this game

The first asks for 20$ and the other asks for $40. The 40$ one looks interesting due to the printable stuff. but is it worth the money? or should i just buy the 20$ one and print stuff from the coasts of wizards. idk tbh. help would be appreciated

This is easily the best place to start with Dungeons & Dragons - a very fun and classic adventure that’s not too long and that comes with basic rules and pre-made characters for an incredibly low price. (There’s also this version which comes with some extra dice and printable goodies which is up to your discretion if you want, it’s more expensive so it might just be better to order a collection of dice, such as this so you’ll have enough for everyone).

roll20.net is probably the most popular online resource, you can find a group and play all on that one site. If you want to get a basic understanding of the game, i’d recommend purchasing the D&D Starter Set. That’ll give you everything you need to run a campaign for characters from level 1 to 5

Well, the other one I looked at had extra dice and some other stuff, and it was 3x the price. I'm brand new at this, and I don't have any dice, so I needed some. I'm on mobile and I don't know how to hyperlink it.

Here's a link to the Dungeons and Dragons starter set, and yes, it's a great bargain! In addition to that, there's a Kickstarter going right now for Table Tokens. It would be a cheap way to give them some of the mobs they might need.
