I can't praise Can highly enough, they're easily one of my favorite groups. There are plenty of excellent krautrock bands, but Can takes the cake from me. I first found out about Can when I was a huge Mars Volta nut and Damo Suzuki/Omar Rodriguez Lopez put out Please Heat This Eventually. I saw it in a record store, noticed Omar's name and immediately snagged it. I pulled the milky blue vinyl out of the sleeve, placed it on my turntable, and was blown way. Ever since, Can has been one of my favorites.
My favorite Can album always changes. Usually it's Ege Bamyasi, sometimes Tago Mago, other times Future Days. Currently, it's Future Days...based on an lsd experience over the weekend wherein I melted into a puddle on the couch listening to Future Days front to back a couple times over. Highly recommended.
I also highly recommend checking out this Can DVD. Also had another tripped out experience while watching this, and while the DVD is a bit more intense (at times overwhelmingly so) it's a must see if you're a fan.
