With my older daughter, we did this combo: 2 OsoCozy prefolds + 1 OsoCozy diaper doubler + 1 PUL cover (Rumparooz has the thickest PUL that I've seen) + 1 EcoPosh wool cover. It worked for her up until she potty trained. You can always add extra doublers as needed for absorbency. With wool covers, you'll need to lanolize them on a regular basis to keep them waterproof, but it's worth it! Learn to Cloth Diaper has step by step instructions with pictures.

Also, this is kind of a strange question, but how much liquid is your son drinking at dinner/right before bed? We noticed (when we potty trained our older girl) that if we let her drink a full 8 oz around dinner or after dinner, it resulted in night accidents. So we switched the timing of her liquids--she gets all she wants to drink between when she wakes up and like 5pm. Then we give her small cup of milk or water at dinner and then nothing more (except sips of water if needed) until bedtime. She would still have accidents once in a while (every kid does), but not as often as she did before.

Hope it helps!
