would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance.

If 2 in 1 is a must for you then I would recommend this [Lenovo Yoga 720] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M22XK8/?tag=bkadamos_alltest-20) because it comes with everything you need, 7th generation, i7 quad core CPU, 16GB of ram, good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 15.6 inch 4K UHD IPS touch screen, high build quality, backlit keyboard, supports pen,, and thunderbolt port.
I thought I would give you a little more in-depth review, so here it goes:
If you want to pay more for 8th gen i7 then this is the one for you

because it has better thermals than the Acer predator, a very good build quality since it is primarily comprised of aluminum metal, it weighs 4.5 pounds which is lighter than the Acer, and a more professional design, but if you prefer 144Hz, I would suggest to take a look at this version of Eluktronics Mech but it's over your budget.
Have a look at teh Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 Pro
Screen Size : 15 inches
Processor : 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics : NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti
RAM : 16 GB
Weight : 4.5 lbs
Storage Type : 512 GB SSD
Comments: This a good gaming laptop that has a clean and professional look. It has a fast SSD, full size keyboard andthe keys have a nice feel to them. This laptop is a cut above other gaming laptops at this price range because of its cooling system.
I think that a low weight is also a problem, since good battery life + good specifications + low weight is a very demanding combination.. If you drop in price, though not within budget still, the Eluktronics Mech-15 G2R is another option that can get you 3-4 hours for light use at best.
Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 Pro is a good pick and you can get a version with 512 GB storage
15.6" Full HD IPS-Type w/ 60Hz Refresh Rate Display 94% sRGB (Argyll 3D) 60% AdobeRGB
· Intel 6-Core i7-8750H,
· GeForce GTX 1660Ti Graphics,
· 8GB RAM,
· 250GB SATA SSD
This a good gaming laptop that has a clean and professional look. It has a fast SSD, full size keyboard and the keys have a nice feel to them. This laptop is a cut above other gaming laptops at this price range because of its cooling system. Its one of the only laptops that can game intensely without getting hot too quickly. There are a lot of variations to this laptop so you can find the one that fits your budget and specific needs. If you are a student this may not be the ideal laptop for you as its battery life is around 4 hrs so you might have to find an outlet a few times a day.
the eluktronics says it has USB 3.1 type c, I can't use an eGPU with that? Google says it has the same speeds as thunderbolt 3.
I’m looking for a gaming laptop that can run games on med to high settings. Some games include: Dark souls series, Oblivion, LoL, CS:GO, Dota 2.
I also want it for college work too, and gaming on the side. Is this a good buy? the GTX 1660 TI is listed and it’s $1,350 (No idea how much better the RTX 2070 compared to the 1660 TI)
How long is the battery life on this thing?

Someone just suggested the Eluktronics MECH 15 G2 to me in my own thread, and one of the biggest features that stood out to me (other than the fantastic price/specs) is how very upgradable it is. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXTT9TY/
I think the Acer could be a good option as well as the Meck-15 .
How would that AW compare to this Eluktronics one in terms of thermals and performance. Is it worth paying a couple hundred more for this?
How about the [MSI GL63] (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL63-9SDK-614-i7-9750H-GTX1660Ti/dp/B07Q433V3T/ref=as_li_ss_tl?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJQYFXGBZ6MDO67HQ&linkCode=ll1&tag=gaming0789-20&linkId=8d5b14fb89a933c22e0efb72f455c47d&language=en_US) which consist of a new and powerful 1660 ti gpu which is best under the price you mentioned and also consist of 256 ssd and 1 tb hdd. only drawback i see is the battery life of 4 hours. You also have the [Eluktronics MECH-15 G2Rx Slim & Light] (https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-MECH-15-GeForce-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B07QXTT9TY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJQYFXGBZ6MDO67HQ&linkCode=ll1&tag=gaming0789-20&linkId=c13866858fbc6c920fa5bdb7c50c0570&language=en_US) with a rtx 2060 gpu and a powerful i7 9th gen processor which is really fast, 5 hours of battery life and it has a 512 gb ssd.
Yes you're right, the 2070 probably isn't worth the extra money. Both of the ones I mentioned have 2060 models.
