If you're in the market for a laptop with an RTX 2070, I recommend the Mech-17 G1R. It's $400 less than the Asus with the same specs and a larger screen.

I am so sorry to hear about your stolen laptop... Those Overpowered laptops were excellent deals..Walmart can't afford to sell them nowhere near the prices they were being sold , even after a release of much newer cards.. Anyways, In that budget range, you can get a laptop that is by far, more powerful than your overpowered system. This Eluktronics Mech 17 uses a similar chassis to your Overpowered, but has better heat management and of course, a more powerful processor and graphics card.

Hi,

When it comes to refresh rate and G-SYNC (or FreeSync), adaptive sync becomes less important when your framerate is high. Most screen tearing should be gone at 100 FPS and above on a high refresh rate display, so I don't think it is super necessary. As mentioned already, the Eluktronics Mech-17 G1R is a great bang-for-buck laptop that has the new RTX 2070 graphics card. It is similar to the GTX 1080 in performance in games, which is perfect for higher settings with high refresh rate 1080p. Additionally, it is known to have excellent thermals, which is a major component for gaming performance.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance.
It comes with RTX 2070 GPU, You can check the below link to see how the RTX 2070 GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game).
https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-2070-Laptop-Graphics-Card.384936.0.html

The outer shell is made almost entirely out of metal.
Keyboard is mechanical with RGB backlit.
It has 3 USB type A, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jack and on the back an HDMI and USB type C.
17.3 Screen is IPS with 144Hz refresh rate like you want, with impressively small bezels, and a professional designز

Lid can't be open with one hand.

Fans get loud under intensive work, but that is normal with every good gaming laptop.

Plenty of upgrade options as the chassis supports up to 32GB of ram, and 2 SSDs and 1 HDD.

Heat management is great, it can get hot but it gets cool again pretty quickly once the fans kick in.

Main con of the laptop is the trackpad, it is mediocre at best when you compare it to other laptops in the price range.

Battery life during normal usage is around 3.5-4.5 hours and 1.5 hour during gaming.

Speakers are down facing so during gaming it is best to wear headphone since the fan gets loud during gaming as well.

I literally just purchased this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07N76BGMR#immersive-view_1557280986817 can’t beat the specs for the price, and the company seems reputable enough, a reseller of sorts

Right now for the same price you could get an RTX 2070 which should be a decent upgrade from the GTX 1070 you have there .

Thanks. That's the 2070 Max-Q and only 128 GB SSD. Mine is closer to this config except with an extra 128 GB SSD and 2x8GB RAM versus just 1 stick.

I've been looking into getting a gaming laptop for a couple of weeks now. I don't game on a desk, I usually just stream my current desktop to my work laptop and my lap setup is basically just a gaming laptop so buying one just seemed like a step in the right direction.

Just recently I thought of instead of a laptop, I invest the money into building a PC and have a long hdmi cable reach out to a monitor that I can have on my lap with a wireless keyboard.

Has anybody ever tried a setup like this or currently have one like this? If so, any recommendations on a lap monitor? I'd much rather put my money into a building a PC :) I'm just wondering if forcing a desktop to act like a laptop is worth it.

For reference, I'm eyeing this laptop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N76BGMR/

At that price, I'm thinking of going for a pre-built like this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-7-2700x-16gb-memory-nvidia-rtx-2070-8gb-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-white/6315148.p?skuId=6315148 and replacing the parts out like the cpu cooler and going for a bigger SSD.
