You are me! Same problem. Try etude house Dr. Mascara fixer!! They sell it on amazon for like $9 and it is a LIFE SAVER! I’m on my second tube. A quick coat under mascara and your lashes will hold a curl for days!

Edit: here’s an amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/ETUDE-HOUSE-Mascara-Fixer-Perfect/dp/B004RK7I2W/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=etude+house+dr+mascara+fixer&qid=1558901737&s=gateway&sprefix=etude+house+dr+ma&sr=8-2

I also have straight lashes that didn't really hold a curl until I started doing the following. I think waterproof mascara is fine everyday as long as you use an oil to remove it; this will remove the mascara very easily so you don't have to tug and pull out your actual lashes.

I have 2 suggestions, both of which have worked for me. You can do just #1 alone or #2 alone or combine them.

  1. Etude House Waterproof Dr. Mascara Fixer for Perfect Lash
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RK7I2W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

It's basically a primer that's designed to hold a curl. Works really well.

Here's a demo (not my video, just a youtuber I follow):

  2. I use 2 mascaras - one lengthening and one volumizing (I'm currently using Maybelline Lash Stiletto waterproof for length and Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof for volume). First, curl your lashes. Then, apply the lengthening mascara just to the ends of the lashes and let it dry. You can add a second coat if desired but wait for the first coat to dry. After your lengthening mascara has dried, take the volumizing mascara and apply to the roots and middle of the lashes.

Here's a tutorial (again, not my video. just another youtuber I follow):

Alternate tutorial (slightly different technique but you get the idea):

I have really sparse and short asian lashes. I find that most mascaras (even waterproof ones) don't hold a curl and weigh my lashes down. Until I found: http://www.amazon.com/Etude-House-Waterproof-Mascara-Perfect/dp/B004RK7I2W

It makes any mascara waterproof if you layer it on top. How I like to use it:

Curl lashes, apply Dr. Mascara Fixer, let it dry, apply another layer to lock in hold, apply mascara, and if it's going to be a long day I go in with another coat.

Try the Etude House Lash Fixer ! You basically put some on like a mascara after you curl your lashes, wait a bit for it to dry a little (like do other parts of your makeup first) and then layer your mascara over it. The lash fixer basically holds your curl and then your mascara can do the lengthening/volumizing. Also, waterproof mascara generally helps to hold the curl better! You just have to use a oil based/biphase remover to get it off, I use the Lancome one but there are drugstore as well as cheaper Asian options like Bifesta as well.

As another commenter said, curling your lashes before you add mascara really helps! You can also heat up your eyelash curler (I like to run it under hot water or use a blow dryer). Also, you might want to consider buying this. It is amazing and holds the curl for so long!

My lashes point straight down and are short and stubby and I actually had false lash extensions put in every month for a year cos I was so self-conscious about them, so I feel your pain. There are very few products that work for me, but I have some recommendations:

  • I know someone else has recommended Etude House, but try their [Dr. Mascara Fixer] (http://www.amazon.com/Etude-House-Waterproof-Mascara-Perfect/dp/B004RK7I2W). Warning: this stuff is difficult to remove, I have to literally coat my lashes with oil and walk around for a few minutes before wiping off, otherwise it'll just stick around forever. With that said, it's the only stuff I've found that will hold a curl (for me). I apply it as a primer after curling my lashes but before putting on my mascara and then seal everything with another coat at the end, and my lashes actually stay curly ALL DAY.

  • [Innisfree Skinny Waterproof Microcara] (http://beautynetkorea.com/product/Innisfree---Skinny-waterproof-microcara/KRINNIAA0000275/). This stuff is waterproof which is great, but the best part is the 1.5mm wand which gets into all those tiny stubby little hairs. I can build my lashes forever and ever and never clump, and when it does start clumping, I know it's time to replace it. I usually just wear this day to day on its own, but if I want more drama I'll layer a more volumizing mascara over it while it's not entirely dry, and it somehow makes other mascaras less prone to clumping too. Good stuff.

  • A heated eyelash curler. Any heated eyelash curler. Use it after you apply your mascara and it'll work far better than if you tried to do it beforehand. Wait until the mascara's dry though, otherwise it'll make everything clumpy. I used to curl my lashes with my Shu after mascara application and that was always.... dangerous, but since you're not clamping down on anything with a heated curler, there's no risk of accidentally decapitating any lashes.
