My education on feminism is based entirely on actual feminist theory and philosophy, which I believe you should spend some time reading (this is the reader I suggest to all people who are starting out). I have read a lot of feminist theory because my degree is in Political Science, with special emphasis on Political Philosophy.

I am not a member of any "mainstream feminist outlets" and I do not even know what those are. I'm supposing you are talking predominantly about NOW, right? Maybe they ARE "promoting misinformation about gendered abuse and supporting VAWA," but that does not mean that they accurately represent the entire political ideology of feminism. phrz is asking about what feminism is and is not, not what one feminist organization is doing with their time.

EDIT: You edited your post after I wrote my reply. For the sake of clarity and people reading the post now, I will bold the part you added and reply to the new content.

> Ok, can you show me 1 mainstream influential feminist outlet, site, course, PSA, campaign, service etc that isn't promoting misinformation about gendered abuse and opposes VAWA.

The problem with this request, as I have already stated, is that there are many variants of feminism. We can say that NOW, for example, is definitely a feminist organization, but do they really represent the ideology of feminism? No, NOW is just one part of the feminist movement, which is huge and contains all kinds of people operating under a lot of different schools of thought. Seperatist feminists, for example, have much more radical views than radical feminists. In turn, radical feminists hold more, well, radical views than liberal feminists. The problem I am seeing in many of the answers on this subreddit is that many posters are conflating all of these types of feminism, when they are really quite different. So, an important question that we need to ask ourselves when discussing feminism online is, what type of feminism are we dealing with in this specific case? NOW considers themselves to be part of the liberal feminist movement, for example. Women's/Gender studies courses are all different in their focus dependent on the individual who is making the syllabi.
