It's foldable so it fits in my bag when I don't use it, and I actually like that it has a fun print - makes it feel a bit more like it was made for a young person (even though I also see plenty of old ladies with flowered canes). If it's a bit too flashy or expensive for you, I'm sure you can find something similar.

If you don't need it to be compact, you could also look into using a single elbow crutch, since people tend to associate those more with injury/disability rather than old age.
