I've always had a hard time sleeping even when I was a kid, but what really helps me sleep faster are the following:

  • Use smart lighting that lets me dim and change the color of the light to yellow at least 2-3 hours before I know I'm going to sleep. I also activate the night/morning options on my phone and computer that does the same.

  • I've also started using a sleep mask that goes over my nose because I find that it blocks light way better than the usual sleep masks you see in stores. It also helps me sleep faster than just closing my eyes.

  • I take this supplement every night. It really helps but for some it doesn't, so YMMV. I like to take that with some zzzquil capsules when I travel for work and have a hard time sleeping because of the time change.

Edit: 2 & 3 were really helpful when I was in NYC for 8 days and there was construction and a lot of foot traffic across my hotel, so I find both to be incredibly useful
