how cheap is cheap? i have a hero3 and have beat the crap out of it and its still working. you can get refurbished one on amazon for $140 here
or you can get a knock off for $52 here

if you are going with a 3rd party i would stick with the knock offs that are the same basic shape and fit the go-pro accessories and cases, so it will fit the derby made cases and mounts

GoPro. I don't know if you want a budget friendly gopro or a GoPro that can do 4k and more, so I just chose GoPro Silver Black.

GoPro can do night videos. You will just have to adjust the settings. It will be noisy though, FYI.

Edit - Scratch Silver. Find a Hero3+ Black on craigslist. Silver can't even do 1080p recording.

If you're shooting clips for promotion/management/etc just ask a friend with a DSLR to shoot it for you. Or, go on Craigslist and offer $20-$30 to someone to do it - there's plenty of budding videographers who'd be happy to get the experience. Also, bring your own memory card (ask the videographer which memory type they use) so you can get the footage back immediately and pay them at the same time.

Beyond that, I personally recommend filming EVERY set you do. I've been using a little Kodak Zi8 for years and a gorillapod. Both of them fit inside my inner jacket pockets. The newest version (pretty much discontinued) of that is the Zx5 : https://www.amazon.com/Kodak-PlaySport-Waterproof-Pocket-Camera/dp/B004FLL5BI/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1469148445&sr=8-14&keywords=kodak+zi8 -- I set it up in the back of the room (the GorillaPod grips onto fuckin' anything) and watch my sets at the end of the night and take notes.

However, if you've got the scratch, I would recommend a GoPro instead. Much better quality and it's even smaller than the Kodak ones. You can get a refurb'd HERO3+ Silver for under $250 : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XIXNSH8?psc=1&smid=A5OS1RR2Q6H5H

Another cheap but very useful item would be a lapel mic for your phone. Here's one for $10 : https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Omnidirectional-Recording-Interview-Conference/dp/B01E3L1ESS/ref=sr_1_3?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1469148822&sr=1-3&keywords=iphone+lapel+mic (some lapel mics require a separate AUX connector to work with modern phones, this one seems not to). Plug that bitch into your phone, clip the mic onto your shirt (or inside jacket if you wear one), and put the phone in your pocket. This way, you've got crystal clear audio if you ever want to use any of the footage you've shot on YouTube, etc.
