about a year and a half ago I bought a new capture card and i got this, which had just gotten support in the kernel in 4.9, and it has worked amazingly well. I have been super pleased with it. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but i hope it helps.

Do you know why it's called a "quad" tuner when it has only one Co-ax input?

EDIT: I answered my own question.

Yeah, you need a tuner card. They come in internal, USB, and networked varieties.

The latter two types can also be used with an Android TV box using the Live Channels app, as I mentioned before.

that sucks.. I know even popular devices like a Tivo are somewhat difficult to get the files off it but it is possible to get them off and save them. I think some guy wrote software that reads the episode info and renames the files and moves them to your drive.

But I used a CableCard Tuner which had 4 tuners in it.. but you can get the same thing for Antenna ..

$89 Hauppauge 4 tuner for Antenna

or you can get a single tuner card for $15 like I have now and get it used off Ebay or amazon

even with a single tuner card on antenna only .. you set it for a show you want to record and it will record all future airings of it .. so it could record The Simpsons at 2am when you are sleeping.. soon enough you have so many shows and movies .. you just let it run and check on it every few days... look for new movies in the listings and schedule them to be recorded.

I'm using a Haupage WinTV-QuadHD PCI Express TV Tuner Card

I just installed it in the PCI Express slot, downloaded and installed the Windows drivers and it worked. If your card isn't working then make sure that the drivers are installed. You can look at your device manager in Windows to see if any devices are not installed correctly.

I'll be getting mine on Sunday so I'll let you know how it works.

I bought this one for reference: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZSVLTW

If you're using WMC I assume you have a PC, I bought a quad tuner that works well enough.

Yeah, it's Plex's list of compatible devices. I think the only issue is the OS drivers. It's internal, PCIe.

Well, if you have a desktop computer, you can buy a TV capture card which will replicate all the functions of a smart TV set/DVR, but on your computer, so you can change channels, record or playback shows, and watch live TV, same as you would do with a normal setup.

It's normally set up to take a coaxial cable input, which both cable TV and most digital antennas have nowadays. So it should be rather easy to setup and configure.

Quad tuner card I intend to pick up for my HTC Zen 2 build when those chips drop. I knew I held in to my full copy license to windows 7 for some reason ;)

Edit: this is a pci-e card
