Hmm. Good question!

For family, we have done a secret Santa the last couple of years because I have 5 siblings and we're all adults, and nobody's reproduced yet, so... it's easier and a lot cheaper to just shop for our assigned person. We have had good luck with DrawNames as a service to assign secret Santas and let people make wish lists. For friends in my city, we've also done a secret Santa, but a random one. The theme has been 'shanzai', which basically means fake - we get the crappiest but most awesome thing we can find within the budget. I have received a copy of the Ostrich Pillow and Bluetooth gloves the last two years. Lucky!

For actual purchases, I do pretty much everything online. I used to do a lot more personal shopping and crafting, but since I live in a different country from most of my close friends and family, online is much easier. I use The Book Depository a lot because it's got free international shipping and good prices. I am trying out AliExpress for the same reasons (and they have pretty much anything you could want). It's not as cheap as buying online in China, but it means I don't have to go to the post office (and I am lazy). Edit: I also buy things that I know people will like, regardless of the time of year. If they are lucky, they'll have a few things by Christmas/birthday. I also put things in my shopping cart instead of a wish list and just keep them there until I decide to buy or not buy (it's sometimes good for the wallet to wait a while, but sometimes you miss out on good prices or things go out of stock).

Yesterday I worked from home with my ill SO who has completely lost his voice and was communicating via text-to-speech engine, which was entertaining for me but frustrating for him. Got some cooking done as well as an interval run which was much harder in the second half than the first. Really liking the workout/training calendar functions on my Garmin 220 so far!

Today I got some galaxy leggings and some lightning strike ones in the mail. I was super jealous of everyone's awesome leggings here so I had to join in! They only cost about $3/pair, so I hope they don't fall apart too soon.
