I think if you go modular instead of all in one you'll be better off.
If you use something like the flymore case it is what it is, always having to pack around its dimensions. If you go modular you can put what you need where you need.
I got one of those hard shell cases that they sell on alibaba (but I got it for $1 more on amazon, as alibaba doesn't take PayPal and I don't trust them) so I can pick whether I want to pack lite or not. Think that would work great for you. There is one for the Mavic and one for the controller.

Getting to the right pack for the Mavic for me has been like finding the right gun holster. Don't know if it's right till you buy a bunch! Started with the flymore case, then tried the water bottle molle case, then a cheap Pelican 1400, then got a nice Mountainsmith camera bag. Really liked the Mountainsmith bag but then I outgrew it a month later after a bunch of accessories started to show up :-)
I'm on the lowepro Tahoe BP 150 now, and I really like that one. I can fit the Mavic, batteries, ND filters, mavmount, VR goggles, 2 different sunshade hoods, lanyard, landing feet extensions, propellers, iPad mini, various cables, and a GoPro kit with some various mounts. I like to accessorize!
