HP 23.8-inch FHD IPS Monitor with Tilt/Height Adjustment and Built-in Speakers (VH240a, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lIPlDbAD13MDB How would it compare to this?
It would be monitor for browsing so the 144hz probably wouldn’t impact anything I do I assume

Arm

Arm is way sturdier than I thought it would be, has been working like a charm so far.

Doesn't seem like an amazing deal. Just browsed around for normal price monitors the other day for my girlfriend and found a 24" HP... IPS, 5ms, nearly frameless, 60Hz, and height-adjustable rotating stand. $109, no rebate.

As far as i know, there was no release for a laptop with a swivel hinge in the past 3 years.

However i think you can try this setup:

Laptop Stand: 70Usd

Lenovo Flex 14 price: $600 (can game even with the integrated GPU)

Keyboard: Velocifire VM01 price: $44 (a quiet mechanical keyboard)

Mouse: Logitech G602 price: $36

Monitor: HP VH240: 110Usd

Total: 860Usd

More Customization: BudgetSet

Buy an inexpensive HP IPS monitor. They’re like $100 and practically perfect. I’ve had two over my 10 year career. First one lasted me 5-6 years then broke (strange green gradient on one side) Second one still kicking. Besides price and size of monitor, I don’t know what more expensive monitors offer and I’ve never cared to find out because these just rock.

As for color accuracy, my prints (@ mpix or Miller’s Photography) come out exactly as how I see them on my monitor. I’ve never felt that I needed to upgrade for better color, contrast, or anything.

As for the monitor, here’s the one I’m talking about

Hope that helps!

Just got this one as a vertical monitor alongside my curved Samsung 27”. Works with vesa mounts and the mount it comes with allows you to rotate it, if that’s something you’re interested in like I was. Great value at $109

Slightly more expensive but it has speakers and is a bit larger

I personally recommend the HP VH240a. Excellent 23.8 inch 1080p IPS monitor for only $110. Has HDMI so you can easily connect it to your laptop, and a height adjustable stand. Thanks to the IPS screen, it will be easy on your eyes as well. I've had mine for a few months and it's insanely good for the price.

Thanks ! Its actually the stock mount that came with the monitor

I liked it so much i removed the northern bayou mount I was using.

u/oddsnsodds · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I'm back to answer your specific question of whether a smaller monitor would help.

The problem isn't your monitor, it's the monitor's base, so you could get a new monitor and mount it off the desk to have more desk space. The new monitor could be any size, even larger, and you can probably find one that's thinner.

There are a lot of ways to mount it. To totally clear your desk, you could mount it on the wall, or a desk clamp would leave you with a minimal base on the desk:

https://smile.amazon.com/Monitor-Bracket-Adjustable-Swivel-Monitors/dp/B07KT13216/

https://smile.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V101C/dp/B071FX6H53/

There are a lot of 22" 1080p monitors. Many don't have a VESA mount and it looks like you'll need a VGA port (?), so check their specs carefully before buying one:

https://smile.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC/

u/Pretelethal · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I don't know what your price range is, but it looks like you could buy a monitor with built in speakers on Amazon for about $130.

EDIT: Like this one

u/Simon1guitar · 2 pointsr/macbook

something like this is an affordable option:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=monitor+hd&qid=1557848666&s=gateway&sr=8-6

or this one if you want the higher resolution similar to the retina display:

https://www.amazon.com/VP28UQG-3840x2160-Adaptive-FreeSync-Monitor/dp/B074PK4R2H/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=monitor+4k&qid=1557848709&s=gateway&sr=8-6

Either one doesn't make a difference for normal use, in the end its nice just having a larger larger screen to watch videos and such.

This monitor has everything you want.

It's the 24" updated version of one of the best 21" monitor with a supremely good panel. IPS so good color accuracy, VESA compatibility, and thin bezels so it looks sleek. Plus, gaming response isn't bad. Granted, it's not pro-gamer level but it's great for the average gamer at 5ms.

Here's the LTT review of the 21" version of this monitor.

u/admecoach · 2 pointsr/dakboard

Purchased a 24 in monitor (HP 23.8-inch FHD IPS Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_46cZAb054KP52 )

and the Raspberry Pi Dakboard CPU (DAKboard CPU - For your Photos, Calendar, News, Weather and To-Do. Wifi connected. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VCTDDL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_pddZAbM0J6JEP)

Next to the bathroom mirror running a family calendar link days agenda for shared events.

Wall mount
(VideoSecu LCD LED Monitor TV Wall Mount for 15" 17" 19" 20" 22" 23" 24" 26" 27" Flat Panel Screen Maximum Loading 66lbs VESA 75/100 - Ultra Thin Mount Bracket 1EA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VKCIJU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nodZAb3DEEZTZ)

Bottom edge of monitor had a white label with monitor specs so I just put a piece of black electrical tape over this to hide it. I'll probably use another small tape piece to cover the monitor on led in the corner of the display too.

Don't forget to copy your custom dakboard url into the settings page once you complete the step by step instructions that come with the Dakboard CPU so when you reboot the Rasp Pi CPU your custom and beautiful screen appears on the monitor.

These could probably make for a great medicine cabinet door replacement too as the positioning would be good. Would be really awesome with an off switch behind a reflective glass so when off the mirror works and when tapped the dakboard display appears.

Hi everyone --

I'm learning as I go here and figuring this out I didn't realize I needed to know. I have a Thinkpad X1 for work that charges via thunderbolt (it only has one thunderbolt port).

I ordered these two monitors that connect via HDMI, and ordered this docking station with HDMI-to-display adapters so I could use the two monitors as two screens for the Thinkpad X1 (and close the laptop's lid).

That's when I realized I didn't have a way to charge the Thinkpad X1 when I had the docking station plugged into the thunderbolt port (the docking station is powered by the thunderbolt port which, if plugged in, eliminates the battery charger opportunity).

What do I do? I looked in this forum and found that Lenovo makes a few docking stations that may work (the thunderbolt dock 1 or 3). But the amount of research I can do has come to an end, and it is time to ask some questions.

I recently bought [This one for a co worker] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M34RQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 6 months ago and I'm jealous that I didn't see this one when I bought myself one almost a year ago.

Recently I needed a monitor at home, no cash so I was willing to trade a GPU for a monitor. somebody local traded This hp and I absolutely love it.

I'm a fellow designer, I work at home on personal projects before I come into work. At work I have a Philips and an Acer dual monitor set up. and I prefer the one HP at home over these 2 at work any day.

u/TheBigFatTater · 1 pointr/buildapc

Don't know what your setup looks like, but I also found Acer and HP monitors with way smaller bezels and more attractive stands. They have more reviews and score similarly on durability and QA. When looking at the reviews for the Dell monitor, they seemed to comment on the viewing angle a lot, which as a secondary monitor, could be noticeable. Either way, here are the other two recommendations I would make.

Acer:

u/alcatraz26 · 1 pointr/LawSchool

I recently graduated law school and built a home office setup for around $600 (my law firm has a good work from home policy). Details below:

Desk - DlandHome L-Shaped Desk - $130

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0798JW7FD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The L-shaped desk contains plenty of space for my dual monitor setup and has plenty of extra space on the sides. It was very easy to assemble (unlike some IKEA desks) and ships in a manageable flat box. I keep it in the corner of my room and it is very sturdy and doesn't shake.

Chair - AmazonBasics Office Chair -$50

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D7P5BFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap and comfortable.

Monitors - 2x HP 23.8 in Monitors - 2x $110

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M34RQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These can rotate both horizontally and vertically, which makes them perfect for work. Also VESA compatible. The quality of these are pretty good, but I only use them for word processing and web browsing. Not sure how good they are for movies or gaming.

Laptop Dock - Dell Universal Dock - $130

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YTQBXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Compatible with any laptop with a USB-C port. It charges the laptop as well while plugged in. It works with my work laptop without installing any additional drivers. Supports 2x DP and 1x HDMI. You might need to buy additional DisplayPort to HDMI cables depending on the monitors you use.

Accessories

Logitech K840 Mechanical Keyboard - $60

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071VHYZ62/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Anker Wireless Charger - $15

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBXZZN3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If anyone requests, I can upload a picture when I get home tonight. Also feel free to ask any questions.

PC Part Picker List

**CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bddxFT/amd-ryzen-7-2700x-37ghz-8-core-processor-yd270xbgafbox) | $197.89 @ OutletPC
Great CPU for streaming and gaming. Supports overclocking, and the CPU cooler should do a fine job keeping it cool.

**CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WwjJ7P/cooler-master-masterliquid-ml360r-rgb-667-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-mlx-d36m-a20pc-r1) | $129.89 @ OutletPC
Black CPU AIO with 3 fans (360 Rad) that will fit in the front of the case, included with RGB fans so you can set these to whichever color you want.

**Motherboard** | [Gigabyte X570 GAMING X ATX AM4 Motherboard](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LJxbt6/gigabyte-x570-gaming-x-atx-am4-motherboard-x570-gaming-x) | $159.99 @ Newegg
X570 provides entry to PCIe Gen 4 and allows for better future compatibility as new CPUs come out from AMD, and should support Zen 2 out of the box.

**Memory** | [G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JgLwrH/gskill-trident-z-neo-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c16d-16gtznc) | $109.99 @ Newegg
This memory kit is black and white, and should look nice with your build once you set it to a specific color. 3600 speed ram is also a nice spot for AMD CPUs to stretch their legs. 16GB should handle streaming and gaming on its own, and provides the option to upgrade to 4x8 (32GB) if you wish.

**Storage** | [Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9nhKHx/intel-660p-series-1tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ssdpeknw010t8x1) | $99.99 @ Adorama
Cheapest M.2 SSD storage device, can opt for a better one if you want, but it should be sufficient.

**Storage** | [Seagate Barracuda 3 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/j28H99/seagate-barracuda-3tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st3000dm008) | $79.89 @ OutletPC
Went for 3TB but you can adjust the capacity of the HDD to another size if needed, as games get bigger I find myself (personally) running lower on space. If I still had every game downloaded, I'd probably have closer to 3TB being used. Just keeps you from having to upgrade later on if you want large storage now and not have to get another one later on.

**Video Card** | [MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB MECH OC Video Card](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HWbCmG/msi-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-mech-oc-video-card-rx-5700-xt-mech-oc) | $424.99 @ Newegg
RX 5700 XT should do a great job gaming 1080p @ 144Hz while streaming at medium to high quality. Hard choosing one since most don't come in pink or white, but you might be able to find a solution.

**Case** | [Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BBrmP6/fractal-design-meshify-c-white-tg-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-ca-mesh-c-wt-tgc) | $94.99 @ Amazon
Nice case, able to fit everything in it and look sexy. Comes in white/black layout, and good airflow. All around just.... sexy.

**Power Supply** | [Corsair RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2HbwrH/corsair-rmx-2018-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020178-na) | $85.99 @ Amazon
650W should be plenty for this system, if you end up overclocking it should be fine. Fully modular so you can get custom cables and such if you need.

| *Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts* |

| Total (before mail-in rebates) | $1403.61

NOTES/FINAL THOUGHTS: This build is going to slap gaming and streaming, while still supplying you with great upgrade paths for the future, as mentioned like Zen 2 CPUs and higher RAM capacity. It comes "out of the box" with plenty of RGB and you can still add to it if you want. The color scheme without altering RGB would be Black/White; had a hard time finding pink or just white components. I would recommend something like all RGB being pink and then the white would just be the case, but of course it's up to you.

If I had to recommend a main gaming monitor, it would probably be the MSI Optix G24C. a 1080p 144Hz 1ms VA panel curved monitor. This is currently priced on sale for $160. As for a secondary monitor for things like Twitch Chat/OBS and such, I'd go with another one (they're pretty cheap) or even this. Just a cheap second monitor will do.

u/Tobocalypse · 1 pointr/buildapc

Unless you need the features of one of these or a more expensive monitor, my opinion is to usually go with the cheapest option that fits your needs. You can find similarly sized monitors around $100-120 on sale on //r/buildapcsales from time to time.

At a glance, the HP VH240a might be a good fit. It's $120 on Amazon, or $110 on woot if you don't mind buying refurbished. https://www.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1537980461&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=vh240a+hp+monitor

Leaving $100 budget for monitor as I'm not very familiar with the monitor world. You'll want a decent quality 1080p 60Hz monitor, which should come to around that price. Random searching makes this and this seem like potentially promising options but definitely take the time to look into things more.

Quick parts explanation:

CPU: 2600 is the go-to for 1080p 60Hz. Stock cooler is good enough if not overclocking.

Mobo: popular and well-respected option.

Memory: 16GB is plenty for your use case. 3000MHz @ $70 is really nice price/performance. 3200MHz is better for Ryzen, but not necessary for your use case and not worth it for an extra $15.

Storage: Based on your description it seems like 1TB storage will be sufficient. This makes your entire system purely NVMe SSD, which is really nice performance at an attractive price.

GPU: 1660 Ti outperforms both the 1660 and RX 580. XC Gaming is a nice midrange model from EVGA who are known for their excellent warranty.

Case: extremely popular option. Clean look, good build quality and cable management, small footprint, budget friendly. You definitely don't want a full tower. Besides being generally very expensive, they're ludicrously huge. Like actually massive. No need at all unless you're planning on putting in like 5 SSDs, 7 hard drives, and a full custom loop.

Power supply: CX is a good budget option. Your CPU + GPU draws 185W total, so plenty of headroom. You can consider a 550/600W if you're worried about future upgrades, but I wouldn't go beyond that.

I'd say definitely. You can get a monitor that would be a serious upgrade from what you're rocking now for just around a hundred bucks. I'm sure you could find a decent one for even cheaper than that. It's worth it, give your eyes the pixels they deserve

u/H4RSH · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

would you suggest getting a 24 inch with all these features. Like this one .. https://www.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a-x/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1542058297&sr=1-6&keywords=monitor&dpID=51h2G1c5D6L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Edit - I am buying this as a second monitor for my mac, will using it primarily for coding and work purpose with little to no gaming.

So you think IPS is that much better? Think I should go for this then if I buy new? Same price. HP 23.8-inch FHD IPS Monitor with Tilt/Height Adjustment and Built-in Speakers (VH240a, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_qL84Bb6G923J2

u/poisonedwater69 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I'm personally gonna pick up two of these to flank my S2716DG due to it having a VESA mount, I don't believe the one in the op has one.

u/Echopractic · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I don't have to try and match the refresh rate or the freesync in my current one? That I can go with this monitor?

u/gecormier · 1 pointr/suggestapc

This PC

I would recommend this pc because it has an ssd. The ssd would hold windows OS which means it will make your computer boot up very fast. The ssd could also probably hold a few more things to make then load very fast.

The CPU (ryzen 2400g)is perfect for multitasking and browsing.

This CPU has a built in gpu. That will run her games perfectly.

For the monitor

Can my pre-built HP run a 4k monitor? Or should I just get this one?

Also, what's better, hdmi or vga? Do vga to hdmi adapters work well?

u/TheDuo2Core · 1 pointr/Monitors

Sorry, I was mistaken on the *hp vh240a which is not 130 cad but 130 USD at Amazon.com and is hp and not dell https://www.amazon.ca/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC

More monitors with similar looks are the AOC I2379VHE Asus vp239h-p, Dell s2316m, AOC I2367fh

u/Jagerule · 1 pointr/Monitors

Not really, they're all pretty good. I only say to buy from a reputable company like Samsung, Asus, Dell, LG, BenQ, Acer, HP, etc. I found one for you though, its got a thin side bezel, built-in speakers, and its even an IPS panel! look here

Well, most are above 60hz because G-Sync on 60hz is kind of a waste of the technology, and IIRC, G-Sync costs the manufacturer a good chunk of change, which would drive up the price of an otherwise budget monitor, making it somewhat pointless. You could still get G-Sync, but I would recommend just running at a locked 60FPS target instead, especially with a 970m. It all depends on what kind of frames you're getting and what you want.

u/blackmarketking · 1 pointr/buildapc

If you're only going to be gaming on a Switch there's no need to spend extra money on Freesync or a high refresh rate.

This looks to be a decent cheaper option:

I've never used one myself because of their increased response times but since it probably won't affect you, people often prefer the look of an IPS panel monitor. Here's a cheap one but it is only 23.8" if that's alright:

This HP looks good enough as long as you don't need something crazy.

So I did a little digging. I'm nearly positive I have this, 2012 Macbook Pro

I'm going to get the following with it, but cannot decide on a monitor.

USB Splitter

Keyboard and mouse

Then the following of two monitors,

Monitor 1

This has a Mini DP cable, which according to the spec's of my laptop I can just plug it directly in.

or

Monitor 2

with a HDMI to lightning port.

I'm struggling to see the difference between the two monitors. Why is one so much more expensive when they are roughly the same size/quality and the cheaper one even has speakers! Just don't want to fall for any Black Friday scams trying to get a high quality item.

I figured with my last lightning port i can get another adapter to a monitor or another monitor similar to this.

You will need an IPS display to go with that, as IPS displays have better color accuracy than alternatives. One cheap option is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M34RQC/.

Went with a Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 1060. The Ryzen 5 is a good fit as it has a good performance and multiple cores, useful for developing. However, if bumping the budget a Core i7-7700K could be a better option here, as its better single thread performance will help in some aspects of PS. GTX 1060 will work fine for gaming, but its performance and 6GB Vram will also help when you render stuff on the gpu or for game development. Without the last part I might have picked the 1050 Ti.

Your digital art programs are why that build has 32GB ram. Having enough memory influences performance of programs like PS the most.

Regular 250GB SSD as active storage, 3TB HDD For the rest. That's a lot.

The case is black and green, has some green LEDs and a window. Fits perfectly your description.

I did not read your entire post as I am multitasking on my monitors as I type. I am going to end this thread once and for all and recommend what I think is the best setup.

You must get dual monitor and purchase or build your own pc. This will cost roughly $500 to $800 depending on whether you want to game. The dual monitors thatyou should get should be inexpensive so go for something like this https://www.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=monitor&qid=1570945539&sr=8-3

They are roughly a hundred dollars and have good color and can be adjusted in a variety of ways.

Lastbut not least purchase a cheap laptop in the range of 200 to 300 for work at where transportation is needed.

This concludes the ultimate setup but its just my opinion take it for a grain of salsa.
