I found the manual to your computer.

Unfortunately you don't have any expansion slots that would give you a decent video card of any kind. I don't know if you have the desktop case (monitor rests on top of case) or tower case (monitor goes besides case or case goes under desk) but both are extremely limited in terms of video expansion.

The desktop case has half height slots, (2) PCI slots and (1) 1x PCI-e slot (single lane PCI-e). The tower has the same number of slots but is full height. Those slots have extremely limited bandwidth and I am not familiar with any reasonably decent cards that would come in those interfaces.

Also, while you have a Socket 775 motherboard, the Intel 915GV chipset only supports the following CPUs. You can get a faster Pentium 4 processor but I highly doubt even the fastest one will adequately play HD video. Even if you upgrade to the fastest CPU your motherboard supports, you will have to contend with the greater heat output (especially if you have the desktop case) and possibly need a better power supply.

I'm sorry to inform you that your current computer has very few options in terms of an upgrade path. The only thing I can think of and I can't guarantee that it works is to see if you can install a HD decoder card like a Broadcom BCM970015. However, that card is meant for somewhat modern laptops or small form factor computers that a mini pci-e slot. I have one installed in a 1st generation AppleTV and it works well for playing HD content despite it having an anemic 1GHz Pentium M derived CPU. The problem is that you have to either find a card that comes in PCI-e form factor or find an adapter that converts mini PCI-e to PCI-e like this one on eBay. It should work in theory as I believe mini PCI-e and PCI-e are electrically compatible, but I have never tried it before. The adapter has wifi antenna since most mini PCI-e cards are wifi cards. I didn't do a comprehensive search, there might be adapters that don't hvae antennas or are half height that would better suit your needs pending on whether you have a tower case or desktop case.

Good luck!

That was my thought too, so I looked. There is 1 SDR for Mini-PCIe (full size) that I found. However, it is only for sell if you also buy their PDK too, and they won't tell you the price. You have to contact them to get a "quote". Yeah, that is going to be ALOT.

Stick to usb. Or, actually, just thought of something. Here you go. Get this, the SDR I linked, and you are good to go. You might have to tear the case off the SDR, to get it small enough to fit, but still. Then just wire up an antenna, and have fun.

Damn, now I wish I had an extra mini-pci-e. If I did, I would get one of ^'s as well as a Crystal HD. I just have one, which I just updated for wireless N + Bluetooth. No space left for me.

I got some old HP T5740 thin clients for free and modified one with an SSD very similar to what this guy did. Works great as an ubuntu based web/database/general purpose machine in my house. Pretty zippy too with the SSD and Ubuntu server (headless)! I'm not sure how well it'd do as a media server, but I have seen that it's possible to drop this cheap video decoder into them as well so they can actually act as a media box.
