I have 8GB of ram in my laptop and intend to upgrade to 16GB so that I can run two VMs, DaVinci Resolve for video editing, as well as CAD when the time comes in my engineering coursework.

My laptop is currently fitted with one of this RAM module. Would it be more in my interests to buy a 16GB (2x8GB) kit from Crucial or Kingston at ~$60-80, or the single identical 8GB module for ~$40-45?

I'm asking, since online benchmarks indicate a decent difference in performance compared to alternatives.
