Skip the high-lighters! Don't get them used to using them. Studies have been shown (and its mostly self evident) that high lighting things doesn't help you retain or understand the content.

Get some really good pens instead. Or this. Makes writing more enjoyable and less painful.
I believe OP’s pens are the same ones my friend has - they’re iBayam fine line pens. They don’t usually bleed through pages/journals for me.

I tend to go to Barnes and Noble for bullet journals. They have some pretty ones. My preferred journal is an A5 dotted type. Amazon also has a couple good brands too I’ve tried. Here’s the specific one I’m using right now.
I get my pens from Amazon. They’re like off-brand Staedlers: 60-pack with stencils or a smaller pack for trying.

I don’t like using Flair too much (I know, teacher heresy) because the barbaric way I hold my writing utensils makes the part in the pen where the cap connects cut into my finger.
I bought these a month ago and love them dearly.
