You're definitely going to have to add in more silk plants (or live plants if you want to go that path, Java Fern I've heard is super easy), get rid of that pink plastic plant, it looks like it could be a fin-shredder if betta boi swims past or into it... I know you said you don't have much budget available right now, but the silk plants I've seen on Amazon and in pet stores range from about $7 - $15 (for example: a 2pack of biorb silk plants, great quality, highly recommend) so you definitely can buy one, then add another later on, and another, until you have enough for the tank not to be so empty (bettas are very stressed when having too much open water, they feel exposed. They need a PLANT JUNGLE).
