  • MFJ-1979 - $60. Resonant on 20-6m by simply adjusting the length of the whip. Can load up to 40m with a coil or match with your tuner.
  • Coil for 40m - $70. Or just dispense with the coil and let your tuner handle the matching on 40m.
  • Clamping antenna mount - $30. Has a ground screw to attach your counterpoise wires with ring terminals. Attach to whatever is handy, or bring a small stake to drive into the ground, or a tripod, etc.

Total cost - $160 + whatever shipping method you need to get it all in time for a freestanding vertical that is resonant on 20/10/15m with no loading or matching network needed, that is small, easy to transport, and easy to set up and take down. Only factor is if you can get everything in time.

Your next best option would be the 31' fiberglass Jackite pole to hold up a wire. 34' is 1/4 wave on 40m, so this will get you a very efficient 40m vertical up in the air. You can get it next day with prime shipping. Just supply your own wire and chassis mount SO-239 connector with some radial wires attached to it, or go with the EFHW. They make a ground stake that screw onto the bottom of the pole for self supporting deployments. Unfortunately, it is not available via Prime so you'll have to factor in how you're going to support it.

Nothing wrong with the Buddipole/Buddistick. They're quality antennas if you're willing to pay the money. You could swap out their short whip with the above mentioned MFJ-1979 for better efficiency.
