I wouldnt listen to this Uncle Erik fella about these speaker. JBL makes AWESOME home audio, one of the best IMO. Way better then Bose since Bose you just pay for the name. And anything above classical music sounds like absolute shit on Bose. I recently purchased a set of these for the fronts, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00167340Y , and this center channel , http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00166VDKS , And they by far blow my yamahas out of the water, and i know plenty of people with Bose speakers that drool over those bad boys. Not to mention Im powering them with a Denon AVR2308CI. But for that price, those speakers are WELL worth it and bad ass. If it was near me i would scoop those up in a heart beat, seeing as their equivelant models for 2011 go for 2k +!! These have a built in 200 watt woofeR? That ALONE is more then the asking price of $189. Good luck in your selections though
I got a JBL studio center, and it's surprisingly good, most realistic center I've heard even after trying several others in your price range. I bought used/second-hand via Craigslist for $85.
Mine is similar to this - but this is a lower model. If you buy used you could get an even better model for cheaper most likely.
