You've gotten some great and accurate answers here, but don't think that there is no new Christmas music being written. There just seems to be no new secular Christmas music being written, at least any that takes off.

However, there are many Christian songwriters who regularly put out new Christmas music, and many of them do well. The Getty's write at least one new Christmas carol every year. The rapper God's Servant wrote a relatively successful album a few years back.

The radio only plays what they know people want to hear and what they are paid to play, because their desire is to sell ad time. It's hard for small artists to get their new work out there in the mainstream.
