Is it possible that you've only seen the red and gold because you haven't angled it enough? I can see all the colors easily just looking at my bottle, but on my nails I have to twist and turn them more to get the colors to change. I'm not sure what else it could be, because you're right, it really would be weird for them to make a fake of a cheap polish.

Does your polish smell worse than most polishes? Mine has a pretty strong, unpleasant scent. Maybe another clue.
