NHT SuperOne 2.1, I was not impressed with SuperZero 2.1.
Ascend CBM-170, best mid-range of the bunch. Great for music. I have these in my living room and HTM-200s on my desk. Could be a tad brighter for home theater dialog.
HSU HB-1, may go a bit lower if not adding a subwoofer, may be a bit brighter so I would choose them if home theater is in the mix or you like the sound of horn tweeters but a bit softer than Klipsch.
Chane A1.5, I have considered trying them but it seems the Ascend CBM-170 is liked a bit more with the better mids. The Chanes may also be a good choice if home theater is in the mix.
Best to try 2 or 3 pairs in your home.

>I'd prefer to buy online direct, since the price/performance ratio and quality is usually much higher for the price.
Not always true since many $450+ speakers go on sale for under $350.
$449. Good for music and home theater. Bright enough for good dialog.Klipsch RP-150M
Z gave them an outstanding review.
For that budget here is what I would recommend:
Denon X-1500H - Stepping up to the X series gets you Audyssey XT room correction which is the 2nd best available. IMO this is a big step up.
Klipsch RP-150m - This is where most of the subreddit is divided. I personally think the Klipsch RP are some of the best value home theater speakers available and this particular pair is discounted for being outgoing and a less popular color.
BIC PL-200 II - This is my least favorite of the 3 pieces picked and IMO if you can budget enough to step up to the entry HSU, Rythmik or SVS, I'd rather go down that route. This is not to say that the BIC sub is bad but it would definitely be the first on the list to get upgraded when funds allow.
If you decide to save up or stick to your budget, stepping up to a receiver that can do full atmos or getting better or different sounding speakers are an option but it can get confusing fast. I'll let others come up with their recommendations and you can decide.
Here is what I suggest for the money:
Receiver:
Denon AVR-X1500H - $300
https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrx1500h/denon-avr-x1500h-7.2-ch-x-80-watts-a/v-receiver-w/heos/1.html
Speakers:
Klipsch RP-150M - $290
https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-RP-150M-Bookshelf-Speaker-Cherry/dp/B00RXHEH8Y
Subwoofer:
SVS SB-1000 - $500
https://www.svsound.com/collections/1000-series/products/sb-1000
EDIT: The Denon receiver is refurbished but worth it for the price.
For 350$ I would strongly consider these instead.....

Used, like new from OneCall. These will sound fantastic with that amp and get plenty loud.
If willing to buy open box (I have for all my speakers without issue from authorized sellers on Amazon/Ebay)..
You could do the Klipsch Rp-150M for about $250
The center RP-250C for $240
Klipsch R-14S for surrounds at about $230
Thats gets you to about $750, throw in the cheapest 9 Channel AVR and you are now at about $1500. Id spend whatever money left on Subs. That leaves you with a very good 5.1 system that can easily be upgraded to ATMOS once you find out if you can do ceiling speakers.
Ok, due to your layout not being a typical rectangular layout, I'd defintelty get a receiver with at least Audyssey MultiEQ XT, so you can counter-act the layout.
Receiver: Denon X2200 for $390 + ~$10 shipping. It's a factory refurb, so 95% as good as new, but with a good discount ($545 new).
Fronts:
You can watch Zeos' YouTube reviews (and sound demos if you want) of both bookshelves.
Subwoofer: BIC F12 for $190.
Surrounds: Depends on their placement.
The RP-150M are definitely better, but these are solid for a more budget friendly setup.
Are these the ones you're talking about? RP-150M?
Here's your amp: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/micromegamyamp/micromega-myamp-integrated-amp-60w-x2ch.-perfect-for-atmos-or-zone-2/1.html

Just tad over budget. Both of these are great/good deals for what you get.
Amazing price for an amp (refurbished), would jump on this:

If sold out (theres 1 left), go with this:

These look to be great value for speakers: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pack-6-5-3-Way-Tower-Floor-Standing-Speakers-Home-Theater-Audio-DCM-MTX-Pair/174021794501?hash=item288481dac5:g:Ax0AAOSwSBddcosb
Klipsch are great too: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-RP-150M-Bookshelf-Speaker-Cherry/dp/B00RXHEH8Y/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=rp%3D-150&qid=1571448723&sr=8-1&th=1
These have had a decent writeup as well: http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/cbm170/cbm170.html
Would the pre-amp would be enough for these?
I'm not sure $800 is enough budget for tower speakers unless you would buy Klipsch or Andrew Jones Pioneer. Most good tower speakers which wouldn't really need a sub and would be audiophile quality are something like $550 each.
I would get bookshelves and a subwoofer, and you can upgrade them in the future if you wish. For the bookshelves, do something like this:
KEF Q300B Bookshelf Loudspeakers - Black Ash (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CE3LG9U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xwLDzbT9SB2WF
Or, slightly cheaper:
Klipsch RP-150M Bookshelf Speaker - Cherry (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RXHEH8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LHLDzb4SG7WJF
Wharfedale - Diamond 220 (Walnut) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P15KDCO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9RLDzbZ86871K
DALI - ZENSOR 1 - Bookshelf Speakers in Light Walnut (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0057X8796/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VSLDzbP0MK16M
And for the sub:
SVS SB-1000 – 12”, 300 Watt DSP Controlled, Sealed Box Subwoofer (Black Ash) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AF88C0M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LDLDzbRASPMQT
This puts you over budget by $100 if you go with the KEFs and $35 if you go Klipsch (which would be significantly louder, more V shaped sound (bass and treble, less mids), but less detailed). I haven't heard the wharfedales or dalis in person so I can't comment on their sound. So, I would start with just the speakers and then decide if you want a sub or not, if you do, continue saving.
Edit: some tower options that are less than $800:
Klipsch RP-250F Floorstanding Speaker - Ebony (Each) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S2N4BDO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.LLDzbFH56BVV
Monitor Audio Bronze Series 5 2 1/2 Way Floorstanding Speaker - Each - Black Oak https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XW22VY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cQLDzb7WQ7KE9
ELAC - Debut F5 Tower Speakers (Each) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014GSEPY8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TQLDzbEY4CHAQ
budget: looking to spend $300 or less but no firm budget. it would be hard to convince me to go above $500 for any one part, but if that's what i need, so be it
looking for: whatever i need for headphones+speakers for gaming and music. i have already purchased some 58Xs and i'm looking to buy some speakers and whatever else i need. i can't tell if i need an amp for those or not...sounds like I don't need one but it would help? as for speakers, i'm not sure what to buy. i'm looking at polk S15 and klipsch rp-150M. i don't know how to tell good speakers from bad ones; i don't know what i'm looking for
what i own: i have only used some simple sony earbuds and some caca razer headset + sony z313 speakers. those are all just 3.5mm. i don't know what i would need to buy for a more advanced setup
source: i'll be playing it off my computer or, rarely, my phone
material: mostly gaming. wide range of music from metal to EDM to sometimes baroque or rap.
willing to buy used? yes but i live in a small town
other comments: do i need an amp? how do i decide which to get? i heard there are different ones for speakers and headphones; do i need a hybrid amp?
i can use near-field or mid-field ranges
thanks a lot in advance!
So I'm brand new to the home audio world in general, but for the last couple of years I've been dreaming about starting a record collection and buying a decent stereo setup. Decent here means $1-2k budget tops.
I'm finally settled into a new job and I'm starting to think It's time to make this happen. I'm looking for recommendations for each piece: turntable, amp (integrated or power + pre), and bookshelf speakers to go in my living room. Probably a DAC at some point so I can listen to some of my digital media.
The only thing I am really firm about is a tube amplifier. I honestly just love the aesthetics and the warm sound... I know that my budget won't give me the best equipment, but I can upgrade down the road.
Here's some of the equipment I've been looking at:
turntable
Speakers
Struggling on the amp, but I'm thinking something like this
I'm honestly shooting in the dark here and going mostly off of reviews. Any and all help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
