Yeah you are not wrong, it is a bit overkill, but I also do it for the aesthetics, since I use these as the outer sleeves. EDH might not be a real format, but playing at EDH side events at GP’s you are generally expected to use the actual card. I don’t really have a problem shuffling it since I have really big hands, so that’s not really much of an issue. Other people usually just cut after I tutor and shuffle, rather than doing a full shuffle themselves

I just resleeved the deck for this tournament!

The first layer is perfect fits, for which I chose KMC Perfect Hards. The next layer is normal sleeves. I used Pokemon 20th Anniversary sleeves. The third layer is character guards. I used KMC Character Guards (you can get better deals than this). The fourth layer is effectively impossible to purchase now, but they're KMC Strong Hards. I've heard that Broccoli also makes sleeves this size, but I have no first-hand experience with that.
