Product: Layrite natural matte cream. I rock a side part.
Edit: this is the stuff. People on Amazon seem to love it too.
Agree with the other comments regarding Layrite! I am including a travel size option as the CBSA didn't like the regular size in my carry-on while... Here are the Amazon links:
Thank you! It’s super fun to play with. Sometimes I fauxhawk it, but I’ve been wearing it down a lot recently.
I use Layrite Natural Matte Cream. It provides good hold without being rigid, and it smells super great.
Thanks for the answers. Would something like this work?

I'm new to using pomades (whatever form they come in).
Matte Cream, something like this
I know it's kinda pricey but this is what i use. I asked my barber for a product with matte finish & doesn't harden like gel, this is what he recommended. I bought it for my hair & decided to try it in my beard. my beard is about 1 1/2" so i use just about enough to cover my fingertip

I ended up buying a can of Layrite from the local trendy barbershop in my area.
If I had to describe it, it's like a fluffier version of American Crew's Forming Cream. It has a little more hold and smells a little like cocoa butter.
Thanks! I use Layrite Natural Matte Cream. It does the trick to hold it in place, but it doesn't really dry out or harden the way gel does. I'm trying to grow the hair out a bit too so it's been nice to have.
Male here trying to understand all this information when it comes to curly/wavy hair. My hair/scalp seems to be dry. I started using Dove Men+Care 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Anti Dandruff a few days ago. I was using a different Dove men’s shampoo every other day. With this new one, I’m planning to only use it twice a week. I use to blow dry my hair but I decided to stop doing that for about a week now. My goto hair product is Layrite Natural Matte Cream but I’m looking to try Buck's Burley Hair Cream for Men . I’ve been looking at leave in conditioners but I’m not really too sure what they do and why I should. I’d really appreciate it if someone can give some recommendations on products or routines and explain some stuff to use or try! Thanks so much for reading! Anything will help.
Edit: If it helps, I have short/medium wavy red hair with some curls mixed in that like to sweep back. Can provide pictures if that’ll help!
You'll need to cut out the non-url bit in front of http to get a clickable link like that to work.
