We were in class and had an active pen (similar to this) and no spare AA batteries. It was an easy decision to gut the pen.

For what it's worth, this Lenovo Pen also works with the pixelbook for less than half the cost of the official pen. The button works, and it's a gray color. The predecessor lenovo pen is even cheaper if you are fine with giving up some features.
The active pen 2 from Lenovo is also a good choice. It's double the pressure sensitivity levels over the pen pro but no rechargeable battery. Can be had on Amazon right now for $53.

Thanks but what I meant is the following two. They look the same but have different model numbers. One has "for Think" at the end of the name and one without.

There are cheaper , but the tips are too short and will scratch things. Also when you install windows on your Pixelbook this one's button becomes useful!
