I would recommend this [Lenovo Yoga 720] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072M22XK8/?tag=bkadamos_alltest-20) because it comes with everything you need, 7th generation, i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16GB of ram for smooth multitasking, good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 15.6 inch 4K UHD IPS touch screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, GeForce GTX 1050 GPU that should be able to handle games on medium to high settings with very good FPs, backlit keyboard, supports pen, thunderbolt port, and it’s within your budget.
I thought I would give you a little more in-depth review, so here it goes:
It will run most Games with variant settings depending on the game requirements with good FPS
As close as I can get the middle of your budget, how about the Lenovo Yoga 720? It has:
The laptop runs Windows 10 Home. The laptop should be able to run the games you listed at medium settings. It has an aluminum chassis. I wouldn't expect 4K gaming to go well, but 1080p should be fine. It is decently light for a 15.6" device.
If you are willing to move away from the student guide the Lenovo Yoga 720 2-in-1 is a good student laptop that can handle a bit of everything.
· 15.6" 4K UHD IPS Touch-Screen 90% sRGB (Argyll 3D) 59% AdobeRGB
· Intel Core i7-7700HQ,
· 16GB RAM,
· 512GB SSD,
· NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050,
· Thunderbolt, Fingerprint Reader, Backlit Keyboard
This laptop balances work and play with its powerful GPU and its 2 in 1 feature which is ideal for drawing, editing, and other creative work. It has a color accurate display which is ideal for editing and 4k resolution is a big plus as well. 4k resolution does eat at battery life but you will still be able to get a bit over 7 hours from a full charge if you are using it casually. It has a strong build so it can last you more than the 4 years to get you through college.

If you want to stick Dell though you could get a laptop from the Dell XPS line. They are good laptops, for the most part, lightweight, thin, lots of power great cooling. Its only issue that turns people off is QC issues. Complaints have gone down recently though
If you're actually thinking about buying an Apple computer you shouldn't. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and at a comparable price to the lower end Macbooks like the Air, it competes with the top-end ones on specs. Larger, higher resolution screen with not much extra weight, full touchscreen with good pen support, solid battery life, an actual GPU, and better compatibility with software.
reply no problem here is a decent one Lenovo Yoga 720 2-in-1 15.6" 4K Ultra HD Touchscreen Gaming Laptop | Intel i7-7700HQ Quad-Core | NVIDIA GTX 1050 | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | Fingerprint Reader | Thunderbolt Port | Windows 10
if you are willing to go just a little outside that budget, you should definitely get this very powerful Lenovo Yoga 720
memory
2160 resolution
external drives
or this Dell XPS9560-5000SLV-PUS would be just great as an alternative
I am in the exact same situation and I also very much like the Aero 15. If money isn't an issue for you, go for it, because as you said, the hardware won't be outdated any time soon, so I think you're good for 5+ years of fairly good performance.
However, if you want something a little less expensive, I found that the Lenovo Yoga 720 offers pretty high specs for a pretty low price.
I would suggest you get i5 CPU for your usage with 8 GB of Ram for smooth work experience like in those

The xps 13 is a very good laptop with it’s battery runtime, lightweight, touch screen and the powerful processor but I think you might need a dGPU for your usage. There aren’t many options, the swift 3 offers very good specs for the price but it’s 14 inch. In my opinion the best option for you would be the Yoga 720 as it has everything you need with the powerful processor and the GTX 1050 GPU with a 4k touch screen all in a 2 in 1 very durable and light chassis.
I agree too, that this version of Lenovo Yoga 720 could be the best choice.
I'm using the Lenovo Yoga 720 15" for uni and gaming. i5/i7 HQ CPU, GTX1050 GPU, 265 nvmE SSD and 8gb ram- good for 1080p gaming and more than enough for uni use. 2in1 tablet mode is also very helpful for taking notes on pdf files in class. Its definitely larger and heavier than the Air (I used to have one too), but its on the smaller/lighter side of 15" laptops and the battery life is very solid.
Have a look at it https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Yoga-15-6-Touch-Screen-Thunderbolt/dp/B072M22XK8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525096650&sr=8-3&keywords=yoga+720+15

It has a good port selection with Thunderbolt being the best one as an eGPU can be added if you want more gaming power in the future. Build wise it has an aluminum chassis which is rigid and there is also little flex on the screen
I would recommend Lenovo Yoga 720 2-in-1 as it comes with: -
CPU: i7-7700HQ
GPU: GeForce GTX 1050
RAM: 16
Display: 4k UHD 15.6 touchscreen IPS screen
Storage: 512 SSD,
Long battery life
It is a great choice because of its great heat management system and high build quality, along with its specifications makes it the best option for your usage and it is within your budget.
I recommend getting the Lenovo Yoga 720 2 in 1 15-inch laptop. It is powered by a speedy 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad-Core Processor, fast DDR4 RAM, and a Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card which is key in programmes your going to run.Another way your GPU can help speed up your workflow is because the RAM on your graphics card is typically dedicated to anything you’re rendering out on your GPU. This is a lot like shared processes; your 3D program doesn’t have to share system RAM with other applications when it’s rendering on the GPU. Keeping both the processes and RAM dedicated to calculating your renders, simulations or whatever else you’re calculating on the GPU will also free up your CPU and system RAM for the other programs on your system. So the Gtx 1050 is a plus.

Watcha think?
Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I might do what 8_BIT_FOND suggested as another option and go with a [Lenovo Yoga 720 $1339] (https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Yoga-15-6-Touch-Screen-Thunderbolt/dp/B072M22XK8) and a [Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080 Gaming Box $699] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076PZ6PRK/ref=psdc_284822_t1_B073PYMG3G). I don't understand why the gtx1080 box is cheaper than the 1070, but whatever.. Only $100 more for the 1080 than the 1060. I have no idea, but it seems like a good deal : \
I just need to figure out if it will work together. I'll probably be dragging my feet for a month or three. In the meantime, maybe NMS will get the shit optimized out of it and will run adequately enough for me without needing the egpu box (ha ha).
Video editing is very demanding especially when done extensively. You will need a powerful laptop with preferably a quad core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM or more, a solid dedicated graphics card, good display quality and an SSD will help much. Based on what fits your weight criteria, I have two options available to you.
This Lenovo Yoga 720 Premium 2-in-1 laptop and this Dell XPS 15 9560 .. The Lenovo 's specs are perfect for what you want and of course, it is a 2 in one! The downfall with this laptop though is that it can become quite noisy when under heavy stress.... It has 16 GB RAM, a fast 512 GB SSD, powerful 7th gen i7 quad core processor and the solid gtx 1050 graphics card..It's battery life and build quality as well as display are also very decent... The xps 15 has a beautiful display, good battery life, excellent build quality and same processor as the Lenovo but it has less RAM , smaller storage and of course, it is not a 2- in one.
How about This version of the 720 it's cheaper.

My friend says I can buy his laptop for $750. How good of a deal is this? He only had it for a year.
Anyone have experience with this laptop?
