Simple routines are sometimes the best ones! If I have more than 5 steps then forget it, I give up on the whole thing haha. My routine is cleanse, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen. Quick, to the point, and effective! I use retin-a at night (it's formulated in my curology prescription) as well, and I find that it helps a lot with both acne AND oiliness. Here are my products I use!

Cleanser: (Not AB) Purity Made Simple by Philosophy

Serum: LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence (LOVE THIS STUFF, helps with acne and is super light)

Moisturizer: (Also not AB) Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (very light, perfect for oily skin)

Sunscreen: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence

I hope this is helpful, these are just some product suggestions that worked well for me. A lot of skincare is trial and error, so don't be afraid to try something new! It's also helpful to implement 1 new product at a time. :)

You've gotten some good advice. And I see that you're planning on reading up on r/AsianBeauty, which is awesome. I firmly believe in that type of practice. You don't have to use exclusively AB approved products. But they are often a good place to start.

My first recommendation is a super gentle cleanser with the proper pH. This is the first change I made and it had an almost immediate positive effect on my skin. My personal suggestion is COSRX Good Morning Low pH Cleanser, but there are so many other fabulous choices out there.

My next suggestion for you would be LJH TeaTree 90 Essence. I, and many others, have found it to be an incredibly powerful yet gentle tool in the battle against acne. I will never be without it.

After that I'd suggest a good lotion. When your skin is still dehydrated and irritated it can be wonderful to just do several layers of a nice gentle lotion. For me, that was a big takeaway of AB. Instead of drying out my skin with cleanser and then glopping on a heavy moisturizer and expecting it all to balance out, I've learned to use gentle products and layer lighter moisturizers. My suggestion for a first lotion to try would be Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion. I also adore COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and find it to be exceptionally soothing.

There are so many different ways you can go for a final moisturizer. And there's no telling what your skin will need once it's more balanced and not dehydrated (different from dry). It's taken me almost two years to settle on one.

Chemical exfoliants are probably the last thing to focus on. You really want to have the rest of your routine in place before you start introducing them. You want to give a new chemical exfoliant several weeks to see how it effects your skin. Ideally 6 to 8 weeks.

Good luck!

I get red extremely easily and the LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence has been a lifesaver! I used it twice a day for a month straight and I became pale a ghost, so now I just use it in the mornings and maintain a very slight flush so I look more alive :P

I have recently been using the LJH Tea Tree Essence on my scalp after I shower to help remedy an itchy scalp. I haven't tried using tea tree oil on my face which is why I was hesitant to try this product initially. But it has been helping my scalp feel cool and less itchy which is a plus!

Thank you! If I add on another toner/essence/emulsion, does that come after my first toner after washing my face? I.e. foam cleanse, toner, the green tea/tea tree thing, then moisturizer? I found these two links but the Green Tea one is in the USA Amazon page, and the Tea Tree is this other brand (not It's Skin). I haven't explored much of Vancouver yet but will be going back this winter break so maybe I can spend a day going around different stores, as for Calgary we literally have two The Face Shops in town like 30 minutes away from each other, and then maybe something in Chinatown haha.

Hello~ I've been stalking the Korean beauty industry for years, but have never committed due to random reasons. I want to try my hand at it next year (need to use up my stupidly expensive Sephora products). Here's a routine I created - mostly from Snow White & The Pear's reviews. For the record, I have eczema (thanks god, no flares right now) and sensitive (contact allergies), oily skin. I know. How can I have eczema and oily skin? OTL

My favorite for redness is my Vit C and Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.

I also just started using LJH Tea Tree Essence and it seems to help as well :)

Edit: I found this thread with lots of other rec's for redness.
