I am trying to get a high resolution image to create a banner of a refrigerator so I can make a banner of a fridge for kid's to put their work on.
I have free choice every afternoon, which is basically social skills and play with what you want in the classroom. It's a really great way to wind down at the end of the day. It also allows me time to work on individual IEP goals with students, do testing, do the daily communication home, catch up on paperwork that needs to be done before the kids go home, and have the aides help bathroom all the kids.
I try to have the staff and I go by our first names because I just like the more informal environment with the students. I need to work very closely with them to work on behavior and IEP goals. I don't want any artificial barriers. The kids know I'm in charge. I'm the big one.
We live in the desert, so if it's really hot I'll call movie lunch day. The students will walk and get their lunch (or if I have seizure kiddos someone will go get their lunch) and we'll watch a movie. In elementary, this will be better because they'll at least be cool until they go out to recess. Heat can be a trigger for behaviors in autism.
I also play Rockabye Baby! whenever possible. All different artists.
