i'm going to buy [The AfterGlow] (http://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-AP-1-Controller-PS3-Playstation-3/dp/B003IU01LC) in a month or so. To be honest the Pro Elite Controller is almost twice as more expensive as the after glow and there are bad reviews about it. But if price is not an issue then definitely buy [The MadCatz MLG PS3 Controller] (http://www.amazon.com/Offically-Licensed-Circuit-Controller-Playstation-3/dp/B0063BCQ20). The best thing about it is that you can switch the dpad and analog in any format that you want. Here's a [video] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF_XKj4gzJk) describing what i just said.
You could look into this.
http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Elite-Wireless-Controller-Playstation-3/dp/B003V4AK8E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1376701429&sr=8-3&keywords=xbox+360+ps3+controller
I'm not sure how good it is or if those triggers work like Xbox 360 ones.
Or you could try out the MLG controllers.

I hear you can use like Xbox 360 parts except use it on PS3. Can't vouch for it not breaking on you though.
here you go. note that the sticks and d-pad are interchangeable.
I remember in 2012 MLG and Mad Catz released a similar controller where you could switch out the position of the sticks and the dpad; https://www.amazon.com/Offically-Licensed-League-Gaming-Circuit-Controller/dp/B0063BCQ20?th=1
It also let you switch out the xbox-style dpad for a Playstation-esque "separated" dpad, which was a neat addition.
If you want a relatively high quality XBox style controller for PS3, you could get a MLG branded controller. It's made by Mad Catz and it's expensive but I hear the quality is decent and you can configure it to your liking.
They do http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0063BCQ20/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Yes...Yes, they do:

They actually make higher quality controllers than first party in some cases.

Those ones cost a pretty penny because they are officially licensed by MLG. But it just shows that they are capable of quality if professionals use them.
Yes, it is legit. It's for PS3 and Xbox 360. Maybe you will be able to get a new one for PS4 in the future, I don't know.

If you have $100 to blow on a controller Mad Catz actually has a pretty nice modular controller. Here it is. A lot to drop for a controller but it's an option.
Mad Catz has one. I don't know what your price range is, but this one is pretty great. It has swappable sticks, so you can have it in any layout you want, with convex or concave sticks, and any dpad you want. It is pretty great. Pricey, but great.
