I just bought a kindle touch and regret it a tiny bit. It does its job fine, but honestly I prefer my girlfriends regular kindle. My touch is a little too sensitive and I find I accidentally trigger page turns if I'm not holding it perfectly.

I bought my mom a (non touch) Kindle for her birthday this year with [this case] (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005KDY756/thicatliwi-20) and she absolutely loved it.

Good luck!

Get a case. One of my cases opens up and has a strap for your hand to make it easy to one-hand the kindle. The other case will auto turn on/off the kindle as the case is opened. I kind of wish I had a hybrid, but either one of them is better than no case at all.

Other than that, I've been a happy Paperwhite user for some time and don't really use any other accessories, other than the power charger.

I agree with everyone else in here about just getting a basic Kindle. I just bought a kindle touch and wish I had bought a regular kindle instead. The touch is a little too sensative for my liking. I find myself accidentally turning pages when I'm not holding it perfectly.

Whatever you do, make sure buy a decent case. My friend scratched the screen on her kindle just by keeping it in her purse for a couple hours. I can recommend [THIS ONE] (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005KDY756/thicatliwi-20) but any case is better than none. Good luck!
