Rather than replacing the trim on the platform with a more substantial barrier as others have suggested, I think it'd be easiest to pop the casters off your chair and swap them out with something like these.
If necessary, a felt pad or something on each one would allow them to slide OK on the platform, but prevent you from becoming a viral video star.
I replaced the wheels on my desk chair with these, works great. Also added felt pads to protect the floor.
I was going to use these to keep my office chair steady on carpet.

Without the base and wheels from my office chair, sitting in this seat my chin would just barely graze the top of my desk.
