I use a heat mat and a humidity dome over my seedling trays. I also put humidity domes over my clones (varieties of hot peppers and cannabis). I found the heat mat on amazon for about 12$; it’s not adjustable, but it does speed germination of seeds. The model I got was like this one;

Don't buy the "fermentation wraps". It's the epitome of homebrew tax and price gouging from people who don't know better. They are re-purposed Seed Germination Mats and Reptile Heater Pads among other names.

The pads are usually good to +20F ambient, up to +25F with a fleece throw wrap and insulation from the ground (carpet square). Alternatively the seed germination ones are great for ferm chamber since they're water resistant.

Heating pad is way cheaper than I remembered!

Mini Greenhouse: for some reason this one only has 25 and costs 12, but in store I got 36 for about five bucks. Same brand.

The grow light I bought is similar to this one, but again only a few bucks in store vs this online price (couldn’t find the exact one, but it’s just a bulb that says plant light)

And just put that bulb in a desk lamp, but don’t put it directly down on the seed starters. Face it off axis kinda to the side to avoid direct exposure.

I’ve tried so many methods from the web that didn’t work, but this one got me sprouts from seed in about a week, which I’ve never experienced with superhots. I’m still learning as I go, but this one actually got me some plants. I hope this helps! The heating pad is awesome and doesn’t get too hot, and the other items are cheaper and better in store.

i'd say too cold. you can also get an inexpensive seed mat for about $13 USD & Temp controller For $19 to help keep the heat up. Cooling require a fridge/mini fridge (withoutf freezer) and a cooling controller which costs a lot more.

I tend to ferment in 2 places. 1. my laundry room in the winter (because it's usually cold due to dryer vent / begin on exterior wall), and 2. My bathroom in the summer which has AC and is generally kept cool.

That being said.. As other have mentioned, warm yeast make off flavors, cold yeast just stop working and may go dormant. You're better off going cold and re-pitching / warming up than getting bad flavor where you toss your product because it's not good.

This calendar has worked well for me. We use a couple hundred square feet in our backyard for growing veggies, and tend to start most of them indoors like people in this thread have mentioned.

A [cheap set of LEDs] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HBT3BVM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (you can buy fancy full-spectrum plant LEDs if you really want, but these are just for getting them growing prior to putting them outside) and a [heat mat] (https://www.amazon.com/certified-Seedfactor-Waterproof-Germination-Hydroponic/dp/B074753J5V/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=seed+mat&qid=1557274811&s=gateway&sr=8-4) from Amazon or a local nursery will go a long way in making sure you're ready to go with plants year round.

If you get some plants going indoors, you can replace your tomatoes and peppers with some cold-weather crops (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, etc.).

My hands get cold as well. I recommend purchasing a seed germination heating pad and placing it below your keyboard. Bonus points if you set up a 7-day timer so you don't have to worry about turning it off and on if you have a set schedule.

They're cheap: https://www.amazon.com/Seedfactor-Waterproof-Germination-Warmhoming-Propagating/dp/B074753J5V/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511736049&sr=8-3&keywords=germination+heating

Seed warmers work very well, and they're quite cheap:
