Hi! I have Lymphocytic Colitis, another form of Microscopic Colitis. I know how hard it can be to get your GI to take it seriously. Most of them have very little knowledge about the disease unfortunately.

Super important to realize that diet is the only way to attain long term remission. I HIGHLY recommend taking the Enterolab stool test (they send it to you in the mail so you do it at home- doctors wont be able to provide them because Enterolab has a patent on the testing method and they are the only ones who can run them). Basically this test will tell you what foods you are having an autoimmune reaction to so you can avoid them.

One thing that has really helped me is going on a STRICT gluten free diet. Gluten is the main culprit in most cases of MC, so I would definitely do that as a first step. It’s also really important to take care to avoid all cross contamination too.

Stress causes my symptoms to get much worse too so I practice a lot of stress management techniques like yoga and meditation and that helps too.

Highly recommend reading this book, as it gave me way more info on MC than any of my doctors (I’ve pretty much given up on doctors helping me with this); https://www.amazon.com/Microscopic-Colitis-Wayne-Persky-ebook/dp/B0092SJ72S

Also, avoid all artificial sweeteners and anything high fiber, as those foods will further irritate your already inflamed intestines.

Finally, I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I understand how frustrating and debilitating it can be to live with MC, but once you start making progress with determining dietary triggers, you’ll start feeling better mentally.

Feel free to reach me via DM if you want to talk more about it. I’ve learned quite a bit over the last few years since I was diagnosed.
