Mhm that’s why. I’ll provide the links below to the two things you need. First, I’ll give you the link to the SD card I bought. You don’t need this if you already have a micro SD card you want to use. Now the important thing is this adapter. It allows you to put in a micro SD and put it in the psp.

Micro SD card:

Adapter

Here is another adapter where you can insert two micro SD cards and it will combine them, if that’s something you are interested in. It’s a bit overkill, but that’s what some people want!

Dual adapter

Hope this helps!

This is the one I have. No issues so far.

u/Death_Masta187 · 4 pointsr/PSP

So decided to dig out my old psp slim and mess around with it again. I could not find any info online about using anything bigger than a 64GB MicroSD working at all so I figured id give 128GB card a go. If it didn't work then Id just have a new 128GB card to use in my Nintendo Switch.

I have a psp 2000 flashed to 6.60ME-1.6 (I have not even checked to see if there is a new CFW since this version)

Bought this microSD to memstick pro duo - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176F2RC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this microSD - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JYC4XM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used gparted in Linux (this is just what I run as my OS) to delete the exfat partition and recreated it as fat32.
I see no reason why disk management in windows (and what ever apple uses) as well to delete/recreate the partition as fat32.

Once I put the card into my PSP is said the card could not be used and needed to be formatted. so I let it format. Once it was done it reported all the correct free space. copied over all my iso and games run just fine. from me testing load times in GTA:VCS went from 26.56s to 31.41s on the new SD card. Also most psp takes a few more seconds to boot. but I suspect that's because I have 11x the number of games on the card. overall a few seconds added to load times is worth having over 120GB more space.

Edit: Ignore the date and time being way off in the picture. My original battery had swelled and so I took it out. I was just to lazy to keep setting it every time I plugged back in the charger. Thankfully the 1800mwh sony battery I used as a pandora battery(just found out you could turn it back into a normal battery. haha) looks fine and still holds a change (I used double sided tape to hold the bigger battery in place and got almost 6 hours in gta-lsc before it needed to be charged). just waiting on an extended cover so I can use it fully.

For the guides, Wololo is a great resource. They have tons of information. Or just google it.

For the 2000's you'll want to update to 6.61 and then use Davee's 6.61 Infinity. There are ton's of guides for installing it, and it is pretty straightforward.

For memory, use this and slap in a 64gb or 126gb microSD card

For batteries I bought 2 of these

So far they have been good, and I get about 5-6 hours of use, depending on what I am doing / playing.

One of them messed up the first time I put it in the PSP but I got in contact with the company on Amazon and they shipped me another no questions asked.

And you will only really need a pandoras battery if you want to use TimeMachine ( boot a different firmware than what is installed on your NAND ) or somehow brick one of the PSP's ( pretty hard to do if you are careful )

But do note, that the batteries I listed cannot be used as a pandoras battery ( they have a fake PCB that does not correctly read a serial number / can't be written to ) So you will have to find an original if you want a pandoras, or one of the ones sold specifically as a pandoras.

Edit: Formatting, and more information

I just bought the following for my PSP 3000:

Adapter
SD Card

Got them based on multiple Amazon reviews of people verifying that the combo works with the PSP 3000. I can update later to say if there were any problems if that will help you with your search.

u/nate445 · 3 pointsr/PSP

That's the wrong adapter, you'll need one like this.

u/seifer93 · 3 pointsr/PSP

The build quality on those adapters are all more or less the same. They're pretty cheapy. I initially purchased this one and the adapter cracked after several months. They're cheap enough that I just bought a couple of replacements. I saw an identical one on Canadian Amazon as well.

Note that the one you linked comes with a USB adapter and an SD card adapter as well, so if you don't need those extras it might be cheaper to buy them separately. Look around; in this case, might be better.

About the firmware, you're better off updating. With 6.61 you can get permanent CFW using Infinity. Also, the adapter you linked should work just fine on 6.61 despite what the product page says. The changes between 6.60 and 6.61 are basically non-existent.

The PS Store does not still work on PSP anywhere AFAIK. If you want to make a purchase you'll need to do it on another device then transfer it to your PSP either through Media Go on PC or through a PS3.

The security settings are just a parental control. AFAIK, there's nothing like a lockscreen for the console. To configure the parental controls, try 0000; it's the default. If not, you can reset the passcode by doing a factory reset of the console. Just go to settings > system settings > restore default settings. Wait for the system to restart, go to the security settings, enter 0000, and turn off parental control. I just looked at my console and it was set to level 9. For some reason, I never changed it, but it has never interfered with anything I've tried to play.

u/kupaa · 2 pointsr/emulation

No problem. I'm glad I could help. You only need to worry about storing more games. I can recommend a cheaper method than buying a regular pro duo memory stick.

Memory Stick Adapter $3.71

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176F2RC/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00

Micro SD 16 GB $9.09

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001L1H0SC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

If your PSP doesn't detect the memory stick, you will need to format it on your computer to a FAT format. Then, format it on your PSP and you will be ready to go.

u/haojiezhu · 2 pointsr/PSP

What firmware does your PSP have? Certain old firmware doesn't support large MicroSD.

Also, try formatting your card as FAT32 with FAT32Format tool (http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.htm) before inserting it into PSP. The default formatting tool in Windows only allows NTFS or exFAT for cards larger than 32GB.

If this still doesn't work, you may have to try another adapter. There are some discussions here on whether old adapter supports large card or not: https://gbatemp.net/threads/is-the-psp-capable-to-accept-a-64gb-microsd.320531/ . Some people just could never get it to work with their PhotoFast adapter while others had no problem at all.

I bought these 2 adapters recently, both of which work with my 64GB & 128GB cards:

MicroSDHC to to Memory Stick Pro Duo (Non-Retail packaging) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00176F2RC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rMhUCbDAVAS2J

I bought one of these a few days ago and it worked great on a PSP 2001 model

Ah gotcha. Haha, I used a 64 gb card on said PSP and added about +4,700 games for my buddy

u/duxdub · 2 pointsr/PSP

If you want to use MicroSD cards on the PSP, you have to purchase a Memory Stick Duo to MicroSD card adapter. It's cheap and costs $6. Plus, it ships directly from an Amazon fulfillment center. Here's a link to the one I bought:

https://www.amazon.com/MicroSDHC-Memory-Stick-Non-Retail-packaging/dp/B00176F2RC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500565907&sr=8-3&keywords=memory+stick+duo+adapter

After that, just insert your microSD card into your adapter, put into your PSP and format it. Voila!

As for the MicroSD card I use, I purchased a 16 GB Samsung EVO MicroSD card a few years ago. It still works great. I definitely recommend purchasing a Samsung MicroSD card, BUT ONLY UP TO 32 GB!!!! THE PSP WILL NOT ACCEPT LARGER SIZES.

u/PSPQThrowaway · 2 pointsr/PSP

Actual memory sticks are going to be almost impossible to find in a physical store, and if you did find them they are going to be very expensive for very little storage space. You should get a micro SD card adapter and a micro SD card, they are much cheaper and can hold a lot more games on them. This is the one I use and it works perfectly. Just make sure that you get a large SD card and leave the adapter in the PSP, they can be brittle. You can use a USB cable to transfer games onto the PSP.

u/Kyzachable · 2 pointsr/PSP

The PSP does not take SD cards, and that’s why it does not fit. The PSP uses a unique memory stick called “Memory Stick Pro Duo”. So you need a micro SD to Memory Stick Pro Duo adapter. I recommend either of these two as they both work for me.

This one has duo slots so you can put two micro sd cards in it for more storage.

For the guest WiFi, I think it depends on what router you have. I do not think all routers offer this feature. Mine is a NetGear. You can also try changing your router from WPA 2 to WPA and see if it will work on your PSP then, but I wouldn’t keep it that way because it lowers your WiFi’s security. You change this by going to your router’s Web-Based start up page.

Oh me too man. Btw, would you mind taking a look at the micro sd/adapter combo i'll soon be purchasing? Id'e like to have your opinion on it. Like whether it will be capable of providing the same level of excellence that yours does. Id'e totally appreciate that opinion.

I got this one and used a Samsung 32GB SD card. It's a tight fit for the SD card so I'd suggest getting a dedicated card just for this (as in, you may not be able to get the SD card back out of the adapter).

Can anyone confirm if these two will work on a PSP 3001?

By a large micro sdhc memory card. Then by a memory stick adapter for it.

For example:

You can buy these

SanDisk Ultra 32GB UHI-I/Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory Card Up to 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-032G-G4A [Newest Version] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M55C0NS/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_.wpavb12VJP9B

MicroSDHC to to Memory Stick Pro Duo (Bulk Static Package) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00176F2RC/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_uypavb0N1X03B

This will give you a good start on storage.

These were pulled up quickly, so they may not be the cheapest option available.

I really like my GO for travel, but M2 sucks and the 3000 is really a much better gaming experience. The chiclet buttons on the GO kind of suck and if you have normal human-sized hands, it's hard to hold. With softmods and CFW, you can do a non-permanent on just about any motherboard now. 3000 was three steps or so. Easy. There's no weird storage splitting (GO has onboard and M2) so you don't have to move around your saves or plugins. With a 3000, you can get dual and single memory card adapters. I have both and they work. You can go up to 128gb now, I think, but it's slow if you go that high. 32gb is easy and fast.

3000 has fewer emulation issues. I find that my GO has dumb random bullshit that for some reason crashes the unit with some SNES games. Even scrolling in the menu causes crashes ONLY on the GO.

IMHO, 2000 is best, but 1000 feels best in my hands. 3000 is okay, GO is really great for travel because it's so compact.

u/jakpuch · 1 pointr/PSP

OK, so what you have purchased is an adapter that allows you to insert M2 cards into the psp.

You need the microsd to psp adapter.

This reminds me of a time I went to Fry's looking for a Micro SD to Memory Stick Pro DUO adapter example. The guy told me those don't exist. I kindly told him that they do exist, but if he's not familiar with them or if Fry's doesn't carry them, that's fine. After continuing to insist that they don't exist, I decided to go home, take one out of my PSP and come back to the store just to show him they do exist. He then try to play it off and say "Oh, those must be new or something..."

I am using this adapter with a 64GB microSD card. Works fine so far but I've only used them for a couple days.

I'm using this one from Amazon. Check the questions at the bottom to know what micro SD cards to get, some of the newer ones are not compatible.
