Have you heard about the moto g5 plus, it’s gsm and cdma compliant, 32gb, and it’s a bit over $200 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B077Y8DN87?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_yo_pop_mb_pd_t2

This is a great deal too.

Yeah, it is the 32 GB one. $259.99 for 64 GB.

But I see Amazon has the 64 GB version on sale for $219.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Y8DN87

That's cheaper than a few months ago when I bought it for $224.

Hmm, it is the Amazon Prime version, which no longer has ads on lock screen, but may get slower software updates than the one from Motorola.

Nope, sorry. When buying a phone for a US carrier not sold by the carrier (aka bring-your-own "unlocked" phone) you need to find an explicit confirmation from the seller that this specific model supports carrier X. This confirmation doesn't apply to any other model sold under the same name.

For example:

  • Moto G5. Explicitly "Fully Compatible" with Verizon. But that doesn't mean some overseas model Moto G5 is compatible with Verizon.
  • LG X charge. "Compatible with AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks." This one doesn't even claims to be compatible with Verizon. So it's not compatible.

I got a Moto 5 plus and am super happy with it. https://www.amazon.com/Moto-PLUS-5th-Generation-Exclusive/dp/B077Y8DN87/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1521651583&sr=8-3&keywords=moto+5

Previous phone was a Samsung s5 when they were the new kid on the block. Doubt I'll ever go back to a flagship phone honestly. Just cannot justify a $400-$600 price differential.

This is actually the reason I ended up replacing my z3 after just barely a year. The D6166 is the only z3 model that can't unlock the bootloader and it was abandoned for updates very quickly (other models at least got 6.0).

Since TMobile is GSM, you should check Amazon for unlocked devices since they tend to be cheaper than financing in the long run (assuming $2-300 up front is doable). Something like the Moto G5 Plus should be pretty decent without crippling your bank account.

The sale is still on. But I forgot to mention you have to be a Prime member to begin with which I already was. Sorry about that.
