have you seen this very powerful MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 15.6? its a solidly built average weight rig tha comes with some decent specs such as an Intel Core Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core cpu, 16GB DDR4 ram, and a 1TB hdd storage space and a dedicated NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M gpu. or this pretty decent little over budget ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH74 as an alternative.
This is a MSI laptop with a i7 6700HQ and a 960M discrete GPU.
What about MSI GE62 Apache pro? MSI is known for their gaming laptops. If MSI is too pricey you can go for Dell XPS 13 or Lenovo y700.

If you're getting one, get this instead. It's $100 dollars more but it will get you upwards of 500fps. It could probs get consistent 200+fps in csgo as well.
i recommend getting the MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 15.6inch GAMING LAPTOP NOTEBOOK It comes with an i7-6700HQ, NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M 16GB 1TB WINDOWS 10
Thanks! Quick question if you have time?
Just found this one, it's a bit lighter (not much), do you think it's better than the first one I found?

Thanks for your time!
The only difference with those two laptops is that one has a 6th generation i7 processor while the other has a 4th gen i7.. The 6th gen is definitely better, however, I would not go for any of those laptops as they both have slow hard drives which will slow them down..To be exact, they have the 1 TB 5400 RPM hard drives... You want an SSD or a 7200 rpm hard drive.
Here is a far better choice Laptop..It has an SSD which is very fast in addition to a 1TB Hard drive. It also has 16 GB RAM vs 8 GB the ones you are looking have.
This is also a decent option-- it has 16 GB RAM and a fast 1TB Hard drive..It will also be shipped before the Asus I recommended above.. So if you can wait a bit after ordering, go with the Asus I recommended , if not, then definitely , the MSI,
Well, the whole Razer Blade hype is quite good, but thee is a lot of talk withing the circle of people I know, that they do not last too long...
Evga recently came out with a BEAST of a machine, but that is kinda gonna cost you 2700...
If you want something that will last, and is a great machine, I recommend picking an MSI GAMING SERIES, which hover around the 1-2 large.
If I had to give you a jab, around the price range you supplied, along with the specs you want, I would get something along the line of the following products:
All Prices taken from Amazon. May be cheaper somewhere else.
I'm looking at both of these laptops.

I'm new to the gaming world and want a laptop that will be able to play some newer games without having to sacrifice all the graphic quality.

Before I ordered an Acer Predator 15 yesterday, I had this one on my list MSI Computer G Series GE62 Apache Pro-004 It doesnt come with a SSD but has an extra bay for one. You can pick up something like this Transcend 64GB SATA III for $40 and throw it in and Be at $1140 total. Or the 128gb model is only $13 more.
If i were u i would get this.

It has gtx 960m which will run any of the games u mentioned better than any of the other laptops, 16 gb ram which is good for multitasking and your editing and it even has an rgb keyboard.
I'd look at something about like this.

I know it's over budget by a bit, but you definitely want something with ~16 GB of ram. More would be nice, but you're talking about a laptop. This processor and that ram should handle any work tasks.
My computer is from MSI.

MSI GE62 Apache Pro:
Intel Core i7-6700HQ
• 16 GB
• 1024 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
• 15.6-Inch Screen
• GTX960m
I took the hard drive out and put a 500GB Samsun 860 Evo in.
Edit: The reason I went with this laptop is because it has a great keyboard. With programming, you'll likely be typing quite a bit, so a nice keyboard is something I wanted to invest in.
Surface pros are a very good option, it really depends on what model you buy. The hardest part of the surface is the small storage space, so you will have to carry a external hard drive all the time.
It also depends what you do, if is only light room most modern laptops with a core i5 and 8gb of ram would be more than ok. if you use Photoshop a lot maybe a discrete card can help but it also depends on what you do.
when I was choosing my laptop notebookcheck was a great resource since they do a great screen review. I think that screen is where what would make or break a laptop for photography they have a list of the laptops with best screens http://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Best-Notebook-Displays-As-Reviewed-By-Notebookcheck.120541.0.html.
other thing you may consider is the space, a SSD is fast but many laptops (MSI, ASUS) come with extra pace for a second drive (you can remove the CD/DVD reader or some come with a msata/m.2 port) so you can have and SSD and HDD. this would be cheaper if you do it your self.
for example all these MSI laptops have a good screen and come with an M.2 slot and a SATA slot, so you can buy a the cheapest model for 800 and add the SSD yourself. or spend more and get the 4K monitor.

if you want something more portable I think the surface pro is one of the best options, great screen. but you only get an SSD. hope this helps!
If I were to get an MSI laptop is there any reason that I shouldn't get a GE60 Apache Pro over what you suggested?

This should be able to run most new games on Ultra/high at 60fps
Okay, those games are not too demanding. In your budget, I say go for the MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 . It is an excellent laptop for gaming and all those school tasks you will have to do. It has a very good build quality- nice keyboard- screen quality etc and battery life...It is also pretty light weighted and has a very good cooling system.
