For the same price you can get this laptop with a GTX 1650 and a better CPU

Or for $320 more you can get an RTX card, but you'll have to sacrifice a little CPU performance.

This should suffice. Although if you want something built better with better thermals & more non-gamery looks, get Lenovo Y540, starts at $900 for i7 + GTX 1650 model. WiFi card is replaceable in most laptops, something good like Killer Ax1650 costs $35.

Learn to undervolt using Throttlestop in any case.

A good way to reduce the prices in a laptop is: if you travel or have a family member/friend you can trust that lives in a country in which the technology is cheaper, ask them to buy it for you and bring them as their hand luggage.

I live in Colombia and had a similar problem, our currency devaluated a lot in recent years. I just changed my 6 year old laptop last week and purchased this for around 3.000.000 COP and the same pc is sold for 4.600.000 COP or so here in my country. Amazon delivered it to a cousin and she brought it for me when she traveled for a marriage.

Hi there! I'd say you have 3 options. THey all look kinda flashy with RGB keyboards and all, but spec-wise each has their pros:

I'll kick off the thread, as I actually have a question for all you savvy folks.

I finally sprung for a gaming laptop yesterday- this one, an Acer, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CTHLX8C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that I had been eyeing for a while.

Hours later I noticed this MSI on sale as well- with a markedly better graphics card and a promo price that was better than the one I had purchased... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R6B94C7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_x9SBDb3M7DK24

The Acer I bought has a 4.1 GHz Intel Core i7, while the MSI has 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, so I'm consoling myself in that it has a quicker processor. It also has twice the RAM (16gb vs 8gb.) The graphics card difference has me feeling like it might be in my interest to return the Acer (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 "Overclockable Graphics with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM") and get the MSI ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 .)

I'm aware of the recommended and minimum specs for running the game, but I'm wondering which feature is more important... is TS4 + all DLC (performance and appearance) more card-dependent, or processor dependent?

It has i7 8750h which is one of the best gaming laptop CPU’s. But it’s 799 maybe check other websites.

Id suggest you get something with a quad core i7 cpu, at least 8gb of ram and a good gpu. this MSI GL63 8SC-059 would be a pretty good option.

2D Unity doesn't really take anything out on your computer, it is mostly 3D which requires heavy hardware. Try looking for an ultrabook with:

6 core CPU(Can get away with 4, better to have more than necessary, will give elbow room to run something in the background like Chrome)

A GTX 1050-60 or the more modern 1650-60(If you are a gamer, else you can go with something from the MX series)

16GB of RAM(Don't skimp over this, Visual Studio will make your life hell)

1-2TB Drive(Pretty standard)

IPS 1080p Panel(Good for testing your game, make sure has alright colour gamut)

Here's one I found with could be good(This one may need to be bought with an extra drive, as it only has nvME of 256GB.Also add extra 8GB RAM) (A bit overkill and expensive, but that's how I roll):
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL63-8SC-059-i7-8750H-GeForce/dp/B07R6B94C7/ref=mp_s_a_1_10_sspa?keywords=gtx+1050+laptop&qid=1570587236&sr=8-10-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFUQTdTODVHS0haMFImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MjA4MjkzUExSUVNSWklEVVpNJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxMjIxNDA1S1k4Wlo0S0NBTUYmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Here's another:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07R6XPYKB/ref=sspa_mw_detail_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This one may need to be bought with an extra drive, as it only has nvME of 256GB. Also add 8GB extra RAM

While at it, consider buying a Dell G3, which is also a good value.

Consider, if you may, the desktop option. They come cheaper and you can build them yourself, hence more customisation options. Send any questions if you have them!

Lenovo Ideapad L340

MSI GL63

It’s hard to find a laptop with a good dedicated graphics card that isn’t really flashy and “gaming” styled. I also don’t know how the 1650 compares to like a 1050ti or 1060 so I can only assume it’s mid-low tier

MSI GL63 8SC-059 ; i7-8750H, GTX 1650, 8 GB DDR4, 256 GB NVMe SSD -- US$799.99

Add another 8 GB RAM stick for US$33.99 for 16 GB total and dual-channel.

Edit: Found something I think is better:

Dell G3 17.3" (G3779-5910BLK); i5-8300H, GTX 1060 Max-Q, 8 GB DDR, 128 GB SATA SSD + 1 TB HDD (5400 RPM) -- US$849.99

It's a big boy, though, but the GTX 1060 is more powerful than the MSI's 1650 (yes, even the Max-Q model is). Also, it doesn't look nearly as gamer-y as the MSI.

**

Acer Aspire 5; i7-8565U, GeForce MX250, 12 GB DDR4, 512 GB NVMe SSD -- US$849.99

This laptop doesn't look gamer-y at all but subdued and serious. The downside is the graphics card. You
can* play games, but it's not a gaming GPU.

Within that price range and based on your criteria and thing you will be using this laptop for, I would go for this MSI GL63 8SC-059 or this ASUS TUF (2019) Gaming Laptop Both handle heat well and have decent build quality. I have preference for the Asus because of its larger SSD and of course, its 120 Hz display (higher refresh rate)- it also has a more color accurate display.
